  • Also, does anybody rate KWP? I always thought he was average last season, has started this season really poorly.

I like him, he links up with Bowen well, but so far this season, something seems off, Both the EFL games it seems like the opposition managers know we are weak defensively and target the full backs...Scarles & KWP don't exactly give off a strong look IMO...& the partnership of Mavro & Kilman, it's scary, although I think Kilman has actually improved, or it's more to his level.....

Also I do wonder if Bowen deep down regrets his decision to remain with us.....
I think KWP can do a job, but not much more....
We have a week to sort the squad out, if Diouf departs, we need another LB, we definitely need a CB, and an attacking CM with a bit of pace, am I asking for too much.....A new keeper as well, ( I know that one most certainly won't happen, but I can say it !!!!!)
  • I don’t think we should be changing managers until the ownership is sorted. Who’s going to make the decision? If there’s a change in power in a couple of months, will that owner back whoever the new manager is or will they start playing games to get their person in? That could happen even if we stick with Nuno but better to make only one change than to replace Nuno and then replace whoever else in a few months. With all the turbulence around right now I don’t think we can afford to add to it.

I believe he had the assistance of Jorge Mendes in getting Ruben Neves to Wolves to assist their promotion.

Chinese owners Fosun have spent heavily to help Wolves achieve promotion, although the method of their player recruitment has been questioned by some other Championship clubs.

In March, Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani confirmed he had written a letter to the English Football League to clarify the legality of Wolves' links with Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes, although the Molineux club do not believe they have broken any rules.

Still waiting for this to happen at West Ham and nine days to go!

Only good thing to come out of our poor start to the season, not bothered it's only two games in because we should be on six points already, is those who were sure our squad was good enough to navigate the Championship this season have learnt a painful lesson?

It's not nonsense to talk of sacking NES as getting us relegated should have been reason enough.

A lot of the fans around me we really on Engels, pretty nasty comments - I thought he did well in the circumstances & will only get better

Same with Kanté, give the lad time

I understand fans not being happy with Bowen or Kilman or Taty or Mavropanos, but Engels & Kanté are not the two to target

I didn’t see a lack of effort, I think there was a lack of confidence & nervousness amongst the players
  • I also still maintain we will have an unrecognisable squad come September - several more to leave & come in

I agree about Kante, but wasn't it you @Lukerz recently saying you haven't seen anything in him, or was that someone else ?.....

    No I rate Kanté 👍

He’s raw but in 2-3 years time he will be a fantastic CM player, he’s going to need to be nurtured this season, start some games, on the bench for others etc

Might have been Potts (or someone else said it)

That last statement is worrying IMO, it's NES to gee them up, they are favourites to go back up, but so far they seem, like you said, scared, nervous etc etc.....That is all down to NES IMO, if he can't get them to feel comfortable with the tag of favourites, then we have a huge problem....
  • We lacked intensity, the pressing, the tackling, being physical - was non existent & that made us start badly & Charlton grew in confidence & were able to shake off any potential stage fright - we’ve got to find that or we won’t be winning many games at home

Also, many fans seemed to think Piroe was a carthorse - 1) he’s barely played for Leeds in a year 2) a 20 goal a season carthorse is still a valuable carthorse

Apologies, I thought it was you who recently said they hadn't seen anything in Kante...
Imo I agree, he might not be ready right now to start every game, and I actually thought when Orford came on looked more composed.....But the CM is a mess at the moment, we need snail Souk back IMO, I know he's slow as....but his experience is what's needed....But we do need another one in IMO....
  • Soucek is a huge miss but we can’t rely on Engels & Soucek with Kante & Orford in reserve (not sure JWP has a future), we need another player in there who is defensive minded & sits or we will keep getting ripped on the break

Kilman (I thought) would be more than adequate at this level. After yesterday I am rethinking that & worried I was massively wrong. He doesn’t help playing next to Scarles either. He makes Dinos a worse CB. Reminds me a lot of Upson.
  • I agree Lukerz about there needing to be several incomings but most have got to be of a much higher standard than what we already have otherwise they are just squad fillers which won't improve the situation.
  • Burnley just got thumped 3-1 by West Brom.
Yes, the very Burnley that came back from two down to draw with us last week.
    A reason offered by some,
"Well they were a Premiership Team last season innit"

West Brom finished 21st in the Championship last season.

My morale has just taken another dive.
  • Just shows there will be lots of twists and turns - look at the top 12 in the champ currently, I’d guess 8 of those will be bottom half end of season

That may well prove to be the case!

It might also "just show" that currently relegated Burnley and West Ham are rather sadly on a per with "The Dog and Duck B Team"
  • jay, Just because some on here don't want to hear or read about what other fans have to say that differs from their own opinion doesn't mean you need to apologise. =)

jay, Just because some on here don't want to hear or read about what other fans have to say that differs from their own opinion doesn't mean you need to apologise. =)

He apologised for incorrectly stating I said something I didn’t (not that I was fussed, he didn’t mean any offence). Nothing to do with differing opinion, which are welcomed on what is a discussion forum. I don’t see anything between myself & Jay that is not friendly, good natured discussion.

I love reading differing opinions on here, otherwise I’d just open up a blog.

  • I agree about Kante, but wasn't it you @Lukerz recently saying you haven't seen anything in him, or was that someone else ?.....

I said something similar about Kante, although he had an OK game against Burnley last week. I'm still not convinced about him though.

  • I don’t know why those fans were at Engels as he had one of if not the best stats yesterday.
Also worth considering is that he was Celtic’s penalty taker with 16 successful out of 19.
  • No offence Lukerz but this comment - I am getting a bit tired of C&H and especially Gonzo, a lot of his stuff is boring nonsense. , not from you I must add, made me think that is why jay was apologising.
  • All good, just my misunderstanding, re Engels, I'm not expecting too much from him, it's not like we spend 40 million, as long as he adds to the squad, I'm happy....Can't read too much from just yesterday....
  • Charlton played exactly as they did last season; long balls, good in the air, didn't have many shots, allowed us loads of shots, gave away possession a lot and fouled a lot,

Okonkwu demonstrated why he was Wrexham's no.1 for three seasons and Tyreece Campbell has now scored three in three

We just didn't seem to have done our homework and I don't understand why Kante started ahead of Orford

    Pablo is a big miss

I fail to believe Nuno can’t sort this out. He had outstanding records at Wolves & Forest, two clubs not to dissimilar in size to us, even at Spurs he was sacked when they were 8th.

We have to stop going down the manager route. Moyes, Lop, Potter, Nuno. They aren’t all bad coaches/managers.

The time for a complete reset has passed. Nuno’s track record has shown he can turn clubs into good teams.

To flip that, he failed last season to achieve what he was brought in to do, but let's see where we are around Xmas, anything below top 6, he must go.....IMO

To counter that, you could say that once he had a window to bring in some players (not Potter’s squad), we were top 6 in form guide.
