That's exactly how it should be. We are not obliged to sell each player that wants to leave because we have been relegated, if we did that our chances or promotion would take a a huge hit. We have sold two of our best players but feel the middle players such as Diof, Tatty, Mavro etc should be held onto.
Happy for Diouf to go, especially at a profit which is being touted, this hes a bit of a liability tbf hes got a cracking left foot but even that is a bit erratic as he just hits it without looking up
Scarles has impressed in the last and needs time to develop, think hes got the potential
Also Mayers plays left back and seems to be quite good
I do agree about Scarles. I guess there is one benefit from this relegation in that rather than send our youngsters out on loan we can actually give them the minutes and test ourselves. Someone like Scarles was short of Premier standard but we needed him for the squad, hopefully he can get minutes and be ready for the leap if we get promoted.
The issue is of course we still need them up to the job of getting us promoted. I think Scarles and Earthy will be ok in this division.
I think we need to put the brakes on selling first 11 players for as long as possible, given our lack of signings. Diouf could end up our LW at this rate.
Hopefully we can start to shift Füllkrug, Álvarez, Todibo to start over the next couple of weeks. Then you have the likes of AWB & Cornet, who may offer something in the Champ (AWB certainly will), but they may not want to stay.
I think Kanté has huge potential & I’d be fairly happy with him & Souček (when fit) as our CM pairing (we probably do need another good CM to replace Fernandes). I would be less confident of Magassa, Potts & JWP but Potts did get player of the season for Pompey in the Champ so maybe I am underestimating his ability at that level. Magassa is unproven (could be amazing, could be awful) but JWP has undoubted experience & ability with his delivery.
I'm not unhappy with Potts and Magassa as midfield options, but Fernandes was far and away our best CM player last season and we need someone to try and replace what he provided.
“The second factor to consider is that you are signing players not only to get you out of the Championship but ones that you think are good enough to also play in the Premier League, and these players will have good options aside from West Ham. You would hope that if West Ham do get promotion, we wouldn’t yo-yo between the leagues; we would remain there.
“I do not think we will sign a multitude of players by September 1st, but I am assured by multiple people in the club that we will have three or four good signings, to go with good players staying and some Academy boys getting their chance.”

A couple of quotes from a EX.
Pretty much expected then, would've been shocked to get kore than 3 or 4 players unless we sold pretty much everyone
Not particularly. Swap out Lamadrid for Pablo and I'm happier, but even then that midfield looks weak.
Did you see Burnley's midfield last season?
So you think a midfield including Kanté, Ward-Prowse, Lamadrid & Cornet is strong?
Purposefully excluded Bowen I see as Bowen makes any midfield a strong championship midfield
Without knowing all the teams in the championship I'd say that JWP is likely one of the best midfielders in the championship
Also would say as terrible as his time at us has been, Cornet would be classed as a good championship winger
Kante and Lamadrid are raw but have potential
But also cant buy players for a single game, we've also got Soucek to return who immediately goes into the first XI. Additionally we still have Potts & Earthy, both of whom have had successful loan moves in the championship (plus Orford who the club apparently still rate highly)

Well the point is that he’s not the problem.
Currently we have no evidence that a single one of our central midfielders is adept at carrying or passing the ball forwards - it was only Fernandes to do that last season - or that any of our available left wingers can create or score (or stay fit).

Were linked with Sorba Thomas at Stoke yesterday, was named the LM in the Championship Team of the Season, 27, very quick, 10G/11A, former West Ham youth, £10mil
A bit of a short term signing, doubt his ability translates to the Prem as whenever hes stepped out the championship hes found it hard going.
However, he knows the league inside out and the fee is pretty low risk
We need to replace Summerville, getting the best LW in the league last year is a decent start
Shows how dreadful a lot of our recruitment has been, Fullkrug bought for €27m 2 years ago, now maybe worth €5m (and was on loan last season), Alvarez bought for €38m 3 years ago, now maybe worth €15m (also on loan last season), Ward-Prowse, bought for €35m 3 years ago, Transfermarkt valuation of €5m (also on loan last season).
That's €100m worth of assets, devalued to about €25m, and out on loan last season when we were so bad we got relegated.
But you could point to Fernandes, Summerville and Bowen (although he is staying now) as the successes that offset them. No one can get it right all the time, of the three mentioned however Fulkrug is the annoying one as it had panic buy written all over it and felt like way too much money.
I agree that no-one can get it right all the time, but my goodness we've wasted an awful lot of money in recent years, and that's without even mentioning Kilman.

I agree, Lopetgui was a shocking judge of a player.

I agree, Lopetgui was a shocking judge of a player.
And, more to the point, Sullivan was a shocking judge of manager.

Kanté - Ward-Prowse
Bowen - Lamadrid - Cornet

Would people be happy with that 11 at Burnley?

Left and right wing pacey midfield players.
Are there any out there?
C&H said Fullkrug is training alone and is expected to leave this week
