  • Speaking of Saudi remember ex-Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran? We placed a bid in January 2025 but he went off to join al-Nassar.

It hasn't gone well, he made 18 appearances for Al=Nassar before being shipped out on loan to Fenerbahce, then Zenit St Petersburg and now he's off to Benfica

And he hasn't been selected for Colombia for over a year
  • We should have been all over that

Already a 'journeyman' at the age of .....22......
  • Amazing deal again, puts us in a position where we dont really NEED to sell anyone else (we will mind you) and probably let us get some new blood in
  • Will be the second player going that I'd have loved to have kept, but at we'll have got really good money for them both.
  • Still a lot more outs to come I think, despite the desire to hold on to the squad outside of Fernandes & Summerville.

We know Souček & Bowen will remain, but I still think players like Mavro, Diouf & Taty will be hard to keep hold of, particularly towards the end of the window when clubs panic.
  • The problem will be replacing them with players who are going to be good enough to play in the Premier League

We might be better off not signing anyone this summer and save the money for transfers next summer after we are promoted (we are going up, no question)

I think that is what the club are aiming for - I think everybody would be quite happy to start the season with the current squad & not bring anybody in. Bank the £150m for MF/CS & hope that is enough for us to compete at the top of the Champ (Bowen alone should see to that). I thought this summer would be a complete rebuild but it’s been the opposite. Keep as many of the players as possible & go again with a similar 11 to last season.

    Hermansen
    Walker-Peters - Mavropanos - Kilman - Diouf
    Kanté - Souček
    Bowen - Pablo - Lamadrid
    Taty

Areola, Todibo, Wan-Bissaka, Scarles, Álvarez, Magassa, Ward-Prowse, Cornet, Füllkrug (plus Potts & the younger players like Mayers, Earthy, Marshall, Casey, the youth players.

I know it will change but this is what we have currently with everybody fit & no new signings - assuming Summerville goes.

That’s good enough to be at top end of Championship, I think DK would be very happy with the window if that is what we have at the end of it. We have to accept that, as it stands, all the players still play for us & are paid by us. Until some start to leave, I don’t expect any significant signings.
  • @Lukerz, Based on how we struggled to beat QPR & Burton Albion in the FA Cup last season I won't be happy (I know that's me) IF we don't add some new players to our existing squad and I expect Nuno does as well.
  • If we can keep Taty in addition to Bowen, I think we're in a really strong position.... they both get goals and goals rule in the championship. While Pablo has a lot to prove he should be good enough for the championship

Fully expect us to make signings, but dont think we'll see a huge amount unless we get rid of LOADs of players

Bowen and Taty alone have enough to spearhead any squad to a promotion imo, that's how much better they are than the rest of the league

Thought that he showed some good awareness with his run and pass for the JWP goal.
There is a player hiding in that beard =)

The issue with that is that we still need to try and balance the books on a week by week basis; with the squad you listed we'll still have extremely high wages especially given the big reduction in revenue we'll see in the Championship.

We can afford to have players like JWP, Alvarez, Areola and Fullkrug, and even AWB and Todibo sat on the bench doing nothing even less in the Championship than we could in the PL.

  • More games and injuries mean we still need squad depth
  • We must get a centre back in my view, that is our priority. Ideally Disasi, but maybe this Cardiff youngster, but Kilman and Tobido are not trustworthy players for different reasons in my view, Kilman on ability, Tobido on attitude.
  • Where did the attitude thing come from about Todibo?
  • I don't have a problem with JCT. I can understand his frustration with the way things went at Chelsea and more especially at Newcastle when due to a mistake in the starting line up by NES he was made the sacrificial lamb to enable the error to be addressed which still resulted in us losing.

To be fair, i would not have questioned attitude, but possibly temperament, I feel that there were a a couple of games at the end there where I thought he “lost” it

  • £60m - great deal for us
  • For sure worth £50m plus💁

I’d argue that if we end the season with Mavro & Kilman as our dominant CB pairing, we’ve probably been promoted
  • It was quite widely reported that Tobido had a real clash with Lopetgui and he was out of the side for quite a while without any explanation, whilst we were really struggling defensively. It was also reported that he had a big clash with Nuno, even to the extent he refused to play against Leeds in the final match. We never get to know exactly what is going on behind closed doors but he certainly seems to have an attitude about him.

When he is on it he certainly has a degree of talent and is quite an athletic centre back which I like, but I am not sure he is a team player myself.
  • La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Milan’s Fikayo Tomori and West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo are among Juventus’ potential targets in defence if Gleison Bremer accepts an offer from Galatasaray
  • Brentford have made an offer for Diouf - negotiations underway.
  • It needs to be a big offer otherwise he stays.

Hopefully we can start signing a few players before the season starts properly as we are already missing a couple from our first X1 from last season which got us relegated.
  • Shame. I was hoping he would stay.
  • Diouf to Brentford comes from Foot Mercato (France) but all they say is that Brentford "have made an initial offer" (dégainé une première proposition)

No confirmation from any other sources
  • Ex says the club is under no pressure to sell following the sales of Fernandes & Summerville & will reject all offers. Only a ‘substantial’ offer will be considered.
