    Other than the fact the current one is horrible - I think it’s a good idea

    It seems amazing to me that the current crest has been around for ten years…it is truly frightening how fast time flies

    The current badge is the last semblance of the GSB period and has been unpopular since it's inception.

    Also, it's a good PR move to help get the fans back onside, which has been warmly received in general.

    Now we wait and see what they come up with.

    Definitely (at the moment) it's a (probably expensive) PR exercise.

    But I can't see that any new design will get universal approval, so you will still end up with a large number of disgruntled fans.

    Almost anything is better than the childish effort we have now, so I am all in favour of a change. Could it be as good as the Boleyn inspired one though?

    Why expensive? Won’t come into play till next season, so a year to implement.

    You’re right re universal approval but the current badge has minimal approval.

    I’ve never fully understood the level of controversy around the badge. I get the dislike about having London shoved onto it but not the clamour for the castle. The older badges didn’t have the castle and I quite like them.

    Is it the badge itself or its associations with GSB and the stadium move?

    For me, it falls into the trap of trying to be "modern" whilst really just looking incomplete or unfinished. It reminds me of how all the distinguishing features of the Pringles logo has been eradicated over time.

    It's not "bad" as such, it's more just that it lacks any character.

    One super low cost way of getting a new badge would be to throw it open to the fans to design one. There would be a very great number of ideas I am sure, and there would have to be a selection process. It could start by the board choosing ten, then putting it as a vote from the fans. As has been mentioned there would be many disappointed, but let the largest vote win.

    The castle first appeared on shirts for the 1964 FA Cup and 1965 ECWC Finals but wasn't used for other matches until 1968. It disappeared for two seasons between 1983 and 1985

    I'd be happy with just the hammers, no words, no dates but that might make shirts easier to counterfit

    I could write a book about my thoughts of displaying a badge, but I wont. Does it have to represent an historical place, person or event? I believe all true fans should have a choice. I have argued against the wearing of of ads on kit for years. I refuse to wear the new shirts as I don like the new badge..it is without a soul. I dont believe we will get a full concensus

    I wonder what this will do for shirt sales etc - Will people wait for the new design or hope to get gear with the existing one later on at a discount

    The intent is for it to be ready for next season so won't impact choices too much for the moment.
