Changing the Club crest

Other than the fact the current one is horrible - I think it’s a good idea
  • It seems amazing to me that the current crest has been around for ten years…it is truly frightening how fast time flies
  • The current badge is the last semblance of the GSB period and has been unpopular since it's inception.

Also, it's a good PR move to help get the fans back onside, which has been warmly received in general.

Now we wait and see what they come up with.
  • Definitely (at the moment) it's a (probably expensive) PR exercise.

But I can't see that any new design will get universal approval, so you will still end up with a large number of disgruntled fans.
  • Almost anything is better than the childish effort we have now, so I am all in favour of a change. Could it be as good as the Boleyn inspired one though?

Why expensive? Won’t come into play till next season, so a year to implement.

You’re right re universal approval but the current badge has minimal approval.
  • Expensive re the designers they get to do these things.
  • I’ve never fully understood the level of controversy around the badge. I get the dislike about having London shoved onto it but not the clamour for the castle. The older badges didn’t have the castle and I quite like them.

Is it the badge itself or its associations with GSB and the stadium move?

For me, it falls into the trap of trying to be "modern" whilst really just looking incomplete or unfinished. It reminds me of how all the distinguishing features of the Pringles logo has been eradicated over time.

It's not "bad" as such, it's more just that it lacks any character.
