I enjoyed the game and was mildly amused by comms saying that 3 points in the first game was a 'cracking foundation' ( 2 words you don't want to hear together )
I think it's off season and we are all a bit dejected by the relegation. Once you add in that the World Cup never really begins in spirit until the knock out stages I think it's to be expected that things will be a bit subdued.
I am surprised in general that a group like this, which is moderated so well, avoiding the language and interactions you see on other forums' still only attracts around 15-20 regular posters. If forums were pubs, this is the well decorated, civilised clientele, lots of tables to have a reasonable chat type of pub, but it seems it's the pub where the volume is loud, the language as bad, the regulars as thick as treacle and a chair goes through the window every now and again that attract all the punters. It's probably a comment on human nature.
Rice is carrying an injury apparently so I really wouldn't risk him against Ghana. If we have defensive issues he will be indispensable in later matches.
BND, There are far worse pundits currently working at the World Cup based on what they have to say & not on how they sound.
Fortune, I'm not criticising what he says, it's as DJ said, it's his shouting trying to sound all dramatic. I think he's been taking lessons from "Screecher" Peter Drury.
Watching the USA vs Australia game, I find that Danny Murphy has a nice relaxed commentary, makes very valid comments and doesn’t get excited. Less is more.
Much to my surprise I’m really enjoying it so far, been some really good games. Obviously they should ditch the four minute commercial breaks(they won’t 🇺🇸$$) but the football itself has been excellent for the most part.
I have to agree, for instance I unexpectedly really enjoyed the Belgium vs Iran game, 0-0 but it had everything for me, Belgium just could not break Iran down and yet Iran imo created the best chances including a clever free kick that was only disallowed by being fractionally offside.
Belgium then had a defender sent off which potentially gave Iran the initiative but they were then unable to capitalize and if anything, Belgium looked more dangerous with ten as the game inevitably opened up.
Tried to keep the politics out of it but absolutely found myself rooting for the underdog…
Apart from the England game I've hardly seen anything, certainly nowhere near another whole match. Have never been as uninterested in a major tournament as I am in this World Cup.
If the game is not open, It seems that England do not have a competent locksmith in the team. I started flicking channels shortly into the second half.

Like Spain and Cape Verde? Whenever a team park the bus it becomes difficult for most teams to break them down.
Wasn’t great was it? Ghana did what everyone knew they would but we didn’t seem to know how to combat it, which is a bit weird as we must have been training for that. Still, a points a point and as ever in a tournament at this stage getting out of the group is the important thing.

I usually like a Geordie accent but he is severely testing me.

Germany v Ivory Coast was an end-to-end thriller, I though I'd watch a bit before going to bed and ended up watching the whole thing
Cape Verde (ranked 63rd) drawing with Spain (3rd) and Uruguay (19th) is mental!
Some good games, but the real competition starts during knockout rounds...
Lummey
Gotta love Jordan (not that one, the other one)
Gave it everything they could but it was Championship vs League 2
And as for Kane blasting it over the bar…….oh my
