Villa earned the right to do whatever they want as they have a far more important game on Thursday. We should have gone at Palace more the other week but we didn’t. As always depending on other teams to help us & I am not confident any of them will 😞.
I’m more annoyed with West Ham than Villa. Spurs knew they needed to really give the last few games a good go and they’ve done that. We should have done the same against Palace but didn’t and made a mess of Brentford with defensive errors and a fairly tentative start. We could have been behind before the first peep of the ref’s whistle had died down. Spurs, on tonight’s performance, look as if they could easily win two, if not all three, of their last games. Even winning only two means we’d need to win all three which is extremely unlikely. I doubt Forest will lose all their last games. I expect the mood at Rush Green, despite what they’ll say during the week, will be fairly bleak.
IH I reckon most West Ham fans now genuinely believe we can’t stay up. It’s going to need some twist to save us. Nuno keeps saying he believes it will go down to the last day but that was when we were two points clear and it will be interesting to hear his thoughts this week.
I think we missed our opportunity at Place and Brentford, and actually got lucky against Everton. We really hit some form before the international break but since we have lacked punch. Sadly Spurs on the other hand have been revitalised by Di Zerbi and will feel they have it now. It's not done but realistically we have to beat Arsenal to stay in with a chance.
The dream was to stay up and send Spurs down but sadly it is looking more like a nightmare in which we get relegated and Spurs survive at our expense.
We shouldn't consider Forest uncatchable however as if they lose to Chelsea tomorrow they have three tough matches in Newcastle, Man Utd and Bournemouth.
It’s certainly out our hands now… Regardless the team Villa put out, IMO Spurs sadly played really well, let’s just hope that was a phenomenon and revert back to their uselessness… can’t see it though. Oh well, let’s beat Arsenal and keep the pressure on, If it’s still a chance we stay up on the final day, let’s hope Moyes still has some love for the Hammers & wipes our Spurs ….
Spurs were 2 mins away from winning three on the bounce - after an unfortunate loss to Sunderland. They will be fine &, having watched the game, looked like a top 8 side & not one down the bottom. They certainly played much better than we have at any point in our good run of form.
I’ve kind of accepted that relegation is pretty likely since the Forest and Wolves losses but I feel like some of the reaction is overblown. The fact we’re even in a position to be competing with other teams is because while they might look like a top 8 team, we are the top 8 team on form.
I see so much (not on here) about how Pablo is awful even though his pressing helps us win the ball constantly, and how Nuno messed up early days with playing Potts and Magassa. It might have taken us a while to win games but Potts and Magassa had a good impact early in helping us to stabilise and start getting points, even if we kept falling short of wins. Maybe playing Paqueta was a bigger problem than Potts. Bringing Soucek back in helped us to start winning games and then Summerville started to actually deliver for the first time.
I think Nuno’s done well and all the players involved have. We lost this weekend against a team we’ve struggled with since they came up. Spurs won by a single goal against a team we beat 4-0 and again a single goal against probably the worst Villa turnout under this manager, where their only shot on target was the one they scored with right at the end.
I also wouldn’t discount our strength at home right now. The team’s been putting in performances and the relegation fight has the fans more up for it at home than I’ve seen since the Europa days. No need to spiral into doom now.
It's very hard to see us surviving now but the next round of matches will provide any hope or acceptance. My fear is beyond mathematics we may be all but down by next Monday. We can only keep fighting but It's hard to see it now.
Sunday is 10 years to the day since we left the Boleyn. The fans helped them beat a top four side then, so let’s be positive and get behind the team. ⚒⚒
A bad and sad weekend for WHU as the teams around us have won. Relegation beckons but it can't be blamed on the loss at Brentford or draw at Palace. It is the cumulative effect f a dismal season. Alarm bells were ringing in Moyes' final year. We had £105m from the Rice sale and blew it on bad recruitment. The Club had no direction as shown in the recruitment of Lopetegui and Potter whop wanted to impose their method regardless of player capability. The ageing squad had no depth.
We have been down before and bounced back but it would be harder this time as the Club has financial problems. Some of the young players have been out of loans but have struggled. Will they step up? Better players are certain to leave. Will Nuno still be around? Even if he is, does he have the know-how to deal with the Championship?
It has shown more than anything that managers are almost everything, Spurs ended up in a relegation fight by the appointment made after Frank, now look likely to survive due to Di Zerbi. I have little doubt had the other guy stayed they would be down.
We were changed overnight by Lopetgui and ultimately for me the person who appointed him is most to blame. Potter was awful but I could see why he may have been attractive to some, I don't think I knew anyone who wanted or was enthused by Lopetgui. He wasted money and built a defence around the very poor Kilman, something only rectified when Nuno dropped him, and we instantly began to keep clean sheets and leak less goals.
Poor manager selection, poor transfer business by those managers, which took a platform left by Moyes but only proceeded to fall off that platform.
Still believe there are going to be a few surprises to come, hopefully starting with a WHUFC win over Arsenal, as difficult it might be or crazy is sounds.....
Leeds are no push over, and could hopefully surprise a now over confident Spurs, gotta live in hope, while there's still a thread of hope left... COYI.....
Personally, I have felt since about November that we were likely to go down and that hasn't really changed for me. But the team looked dead and buried in January and have managed to give us reasons to be optimistic. It's not over til it's over!
Moyes got JWP whilst Steidten thought we should sign Fofana I know who I would have preferred. DM was never going to allow TS to operate as he needed to so that is where the problems started.

But for goodness sake. Watching Villa give Spurs the game is excruciating.
So Villa, make some changes.
Watkins must come on.

They have Chelsea, chasing Europe and won't want to lose to Spurs anyway, as are Everton. Leeds can be a handful as we know.
We have Arsenal, a free hit, Newcastle, on the beach, and Leeds, who knows.
I for one, although disappointed in yesterday's result, haven't given up.
Three points could be enough.

Chelsea 9th, 4pts off 6th place
