Relegation battle thread

I am sure over the coming weeks we will have a few thoughts to share on the overall picture, so I have started a thread for them.

  • I see Kudus has suffered a setback just as he was about to return, that really was good business on our part it seems. It's usually the other way around as with Fulkrug. we buy, they get injured.

I looked on the Spurs forum a week or so ago and there was a mixed bag regard Kudus, some were saying his he will save them, whilst others who had seen him play replied not to be so ridiculous, as all he will do is dribble at speed into dead ends just as he always does.
  • He probably just didn't fancy a relegation battle so he is taking the rest of the season off. 😉
  • Leeds have also got quite then injury list following their game against us
  • The games afoot…Ha’way the lads
  • What a lovely feeling picking up three points with all the others to play.

Spurs will be hard to call with the new manager in charge, they could come out revitalised or just the same old side with a new man in the dugout. I think they will draw. I think Forest will definitely get something but I am hoping just a draw but fear they will win, but I think Leeds will lose, which means they are very much in the thick of it again.
  • A huge couple of days coming up, with Spurs, Forest and Leeds yet to play their matches while we've got 3 points in the bank. Not that every round of fixtures until the end of the season isn't huge if we're to stay up.

I did a prediction of results (not scores, just win/draw/lose) of the last 10 matches for ourselves, Forest, Leeds and Spurs a few weeks back which saw relegation being decided on goal difference 😱😱😱 and 3 or 4 games in that's still the case atm (although between 3 teams now, not just 2). However, my predictions are unnaturally pessemistic for Spurs (from our perspective); I've got them winning 4 out of their 7 remaining games which current form makes a mockery of.

Anyway, the long and the short of it is that I've only got the other 3 teams picking up 1 point between them this weekend, so really tough to improve on that, but the potential for things to be a whole lot worse than my forecast. Here's hoping for really strong performances from Sunderland, Villa and (wash my mouth out) Man Utd.

I also did a predictor thing, and I had us one point ahead of Forest.
  • The supercomputer has been doing predictions all season long and had us as relegated for virtually the whole time UNTIL Friday night.

But what's a supercomputer compared to alderz and me 😂🤣😂?

How it that prediction looking now (ie have we or Forest over/under-performed against your prediction in the games played so far)?

  • It's a weird season because I'm looking at all of us, Spurs, Leeds and Forest and can't see any ending up with less than 38 points, when 34-35 has so often been enough to stay up in previous seasons

I only did it this week, and I had us to beat Wolves, so I’m 1/1 so far!

I can see Spurs getting to that, but if they lose today I will have to revise that. Man I want them to lose so badly.
  • I've got a feeling 42 is needed to stay up

Same, even more so now De Zerbi is there

I don't think it'll be that high, personally.
  • I think we need 3 wins
  • Today is as stressful as watching us play

Out of interest, why ? Is it to do with Mason Greenwood comments he made ?
  • I've got a feeling 42 is needed to stay up

I said ages ago that I thought it would be more than the usual 35 or 36, but I do't think it will need quite that many. 38 or 39 I think.

That and I also find him arrogant and petulant and smug

    Fair do’s 👍🏻
  • But he talks highly of you Jorderz =)
  • Another reason to dislike him then, he’s a bad judge of character
  • Not perfect but not far off - Spurs no points, Palace secure their survival so will turn full time to Conference, two points gained on forest.

Just need Leeds to lose tomorrow now.

Huge weekend for us - 2 points gained on Forest, 2 clear of Spurs, out the bottom three (3 gained on Leeds, as it stands)

If Man Utd can also do the business tomorrow that’s a great 72 hours

Palace away won’t be easy, as they showed today, but it’s in our hands

Leeds, Forest & Spurs all at home next week & I would expect at least two of those to win given their fixtures

I had that, and Spurs losing with Forest getting a point. Just need Leeds to lose tomorrow and I'll have all 4 results right this round 🤞🤞🤞.
  • Apparently Spurs hierarchy have been see at the 'Managers R us' store carrying a hardly used still boxed De Zerbi, arguing with the store manager that it's faulty and wanting to swap it for the Dyche model.
  • Next week is going to be huge - you have to expect that Forest and Leeds to prevail against Burnley and Wolves so IF we can overturn Palace, Spurs will have to beat Brighton to avoid being 5 points adrift…..

    Oh boy what fun

In a way next week is the complete opposite to this week, as this week I predicted a win for us and only a single point between the other teams, so little positive upside possible yet things coulda gone horribly wrong (but haven't so far).

Next week however I've got us down for a draw, but have 2 wins and a draw for the other 3 teams, so the potential for us to make gains against my prediction 🤞🤞🤞.
