Terrible result with Arsenal up next

Spurs have two opportunities - take both & they will be 5 clear with their GD with two to go, it’ll be over

Game over...Mads should have done better IMO...Disaster result....

Harsh on the keeper that. It just looked out of reach to me
IMO Mads is an average keeper, he's just not convincing, perhaps I was a bit harsh, but he's not good enough IMO.
Generally speaking, I think we look a much better side with him in that Areola. But then I think Areola is pretty awful so maybe it’s not a high bar.
  • It seems like pulling shirts is now fully permissable.
  • Loose to Arsenal ,And its over to Villa and Leeds to help us out
  • Looks like we need a result against Arsenal
  • This result completely misrepresents the game.

You need to hit the back of the net, we've been unlucky with hitting frame 3 times....Just wasn't meant to be today, gotta hope the other claret n blue team do us proud tomorrow evening....
  • At 2-0 I thought it a harsh scoreline but still thought we were still in it but at 3-0 the game is over where absolutely nothing has gone our way.
For the naysayers out there, if we do go down, it will not be because of today’s performance.
  • We will get a result but it’s likely to be no better than today’s.

Damsgaard should have been closed down.
  • It is down to having two previous managers who were poor.

Yeh, today aside we've done so well of late, it was the horrendous start under Potter and Nuno's first month or so......
Oh well, it's not over yet, plenty of twists and turns to come.....
  • I really can’t see Spurs blowing it after today. They will be so fired up and Villa have a big game midweek.

You must have made a fortune with the bookies over the years

    Pawson ia shocking

Tony Harrington in VAR must be blind, Pawson hasn't been great, but that's where VAR can assist, the non-penalty for the so called slip, it's a penalty all day long, perhaps we got lucky last weekend with the non giving of a penalty with Fernandes......
  • Lot of people here assuming that Spurs are going to win their next 2
  • I hope I’m wrong Alderz but if it had been the other way round we’d have been chomping at the bit and couldn’t wait for tomorrow.
  • As bad as Spurs have been, I have always thought they would put it together at the end of the season. I don’t know where we will get any more points, and it is inconceivable that Spurs will lose every game they have left.
  • Disappointing result. The scoreline flatters Brentford. Three lousy goals. We had no luck against a bogey team. Now want Tottenham to lose and let WHU to get three points from Arsenal.
  • It was always hard for me to picture Spurs relegated

Last 3 games - 1-0 loss, 2-2 draw (almost won), 1-0 win. They will somehow pull out the points to stay up, IMO.
  • It was in our hands at 3pm but it’s out of them now. It doesn’t matter how many we lose by because our goal difference is so inferior but what does matter is we avoid defeat.
  • It'll be more fun to get something from the Arsenal game anyway....

  • @jay_in_cpt, For those who can't remember, for what it's worth, Tony Harrington was the referee for our game v Nottingham Forest at the OS in January when Taty was ruled offside when Summerville scored.
  • Yep, little doubt that we should have had a penalty but we can only blame ourselves for finding ourselves two down, their first was scruffy to say the least and their penalty was entirely self inflicted.

We were also desperately unlucky in front of goal, we created numerous chances and did very little wrong, striking the post three times and having one chalked off for a very marginal offside.

We are still in this - hopefully we can take enough away from this one to carry us over the line in the games to come.

    I still believe we will

  • You are always gonna get bad breaks, so best to get that many over with in one game. Clutching at straws here =)
  • It really is getting beyond a joke with the on-field refereeing and VAR.

A player is wrestled to the ground with the ball in play - nothing given, a player pulls a shirt of an opposing player running with/chasing the ball - foul given.
A player slips in a tackle and brings down an opposing player - nothing given, a player loses his footing and brings down etc.etc. - foul given.

Why should it matter in which part of the pitch these occur?
Why are the rules not applied evenly? Is it written that the rules are only applied in certain parts of the pitch?

Fifa/Referees/VAR need to sort this out.
  • Really poor from Pawson, and even worse from Harrington as VAR.
  • Thought we might get something after the first 45 mins but they were better than us overall. Would like to see Pablo dropped, Bowen with Taty and Traore brought into the side. We have to play to win. Let's hope Villa do us a favour tomorrow.
  • I really can’t see Spurs blowing it after today. They will be so fired up and Villa have a big game midweek.

We showed today that being fired up and giving all doesn't automatically get you the points, we gave it our all but due to a bit of bad luck and a good Brentford side we came away with nothing. They are playing Villa away and will need be the better side, not just be fired up.
  • BBC said:

West Ham struck the woodwork four times - a joint record in the Premier League this season - with Valentin Castellanos hitting a post either side of Konstantinos Mavropanos' first-half own goal, before Crysencio Summerville slammed a powerful drive against the crossbar with the score at 3-0.

BBC wrong twice in one paragraph there.
  • It's a shame they got the result wrong like the team!
