I completely forgot that it was still with me.

  • Hope it will be for sometime
  • Another huge game as it's one we'll realistically be targeting; 3 of our next 4 matches after this are Liverpool and Villa away, and City at home. Unfortunately Bournemouth, after looking likely to be drawn into the relegation battle, have gone on a really good run and have won 4 and drawn 2 in their last 6.

Hopefully alderz will use his mod privileges to change this to a Match thread rather than a MOTM 😂🤣😂.
  • This really is a must win as the realistic opportunities for three points are sprinkled within those that three points would be a surprise. We have a lot going for us as we are at home and the crowd, buoyed by our recent performances, will be up for this evening match. Should we win it will really put pressure on Forest and Spurs on Sunday.

I think the team picks itself after the last few performances but there will be a question of whether Tobido comes straight back in as leaving aside that injury time equaliser against United we would have had three clean sheets in a row.
  • Agreed - I would leave the back four as is for now .
Mavro has really stepped up and I have liked what I have seen thus far from Disasi - would like to see them form a partnership
  • Says Potts banned for 3 games on OS
  • Once again Bournemouth have signed a complete unknown after selling a key player.

19yo Brazilian right winger Rayan, (Vasco de Gama £24.7m plus £5.6m add ons) has started the last two games and scored in both

They also spent some of the Semenyo money on 20yo Hungarian AM/CM Alex Toth (Ferencvaros £10.4m plus £4.6m add ons) but he's not had quite the same impact as Rayan

Justin Kluivert is out after knee surgery and while Marcus Tavernier is back in training Ireola says its too early for him.

Otherwise its the same squad we drew with back in November

As Buffy says Bournemouth have recovered from their 11 game winless run and have gone six league games without losing

Enes Unai hasn't scored since we last played, he's only scored 5 and had just 6 starts in 48 appearances for Bournemouth but has scored both times he's played against us

    What are the odds?

Makes not appealing it even more strange

    Hermansen
    Wan-Bissaka - Mavropanos - Disasi - Diouf
    Souček - Magassa - Fernandes
    Bowen - Taty - Summerville

Areola, Kilman, Todibo, Walker-Peters, Scarles, Kanté, Lamadrid, Traoré, Wilson
  • We've been looking good with two strikers, or at least one midfielder very close to the striker, so I'd want to stick to that. I think Wilson's lack of mobility hurts us too much, so for me the options would be to have Soucek right up with Taty, or Bowen in the middle with him and Traoré on the wing. I think I'd go with the former.

    Hermansn
    AWB - Mavropanos - Disasi - Diouf
    Bowen - Magassa - Fernandes - Summerville
    Soucek
    Taty
  • Forgot Ireola has a touch line ban for this one
  • I would go with Alderz team with one change, Soucek for Magassa and Wilson up with Tatty, as I feel we need to really attack this match early.
  • I just don't think Wilson adds anything. The guy can't press at all, it's like playing with 10 men

I would like to see us go for this one - Bowen and Taty up top - Traore, Soucek, Fernandez and Summerville across the middle - if we manage to get ahead then Magassa can come on for Traore

Apart from the reverse fixture 🤣😉
  • Iraola says no new injuries with Tavernier to face a late fitness test so maybe on the bench

Sure. But look at how we’ve played in our run of good form. We’ve pressed high, very energetic. When Wilson is on, we can’t do that. Yes he can take chances, but IMO he severely damages our ability to play well as a unit. Maybe he plays, maybe he scores, I personally don’t think we’re better with him on the pitch.
  • I don't think Nuno will start with both Wilson and Taty, if one of them gets injured we don't have a back up centre forward so we'd be forced to change formation and tactics

The only time he started them together was against Burnley when we had Pablo available

Most likely the same starting XI as Man Utd with Magassa in for Potts and Wilson on the bench. Bring him on either when we need more attacking options or when Taty gets tired.
  • It was noticeable when Wilson came on for Taty against Man Utd, Nuno wasn’t impressed. On several occasions he was gesturing & appearing fed up when the ball went up top & Wilson did little with it. I don’t expect him to start today, but he may go Bowen & Taty up top with Traore out wide, or bring in Magassa.

We have to change tactics when Wilson comes on for Taty too. They’re wildly different players and just because they are both strikers doesn’t mean they can do remotely the same things as on another.
  • Surely Nuno goes win 4-0 lads & out bottom three
  • Indeed, Wilson is more of a poacher, Taty more of a "target man" but I'd argue it was preferable to have one of them up top instead of Bowen, Summerville, Traore or even Soucek playing out of position

At least that way everybody understands their role and what to do
  • My worry is he lobs Todibo in for the striker & moves to a back 3, to incorporate Disasi, Todibo & Mavro.

We played a back three against Bournemouth in November, it did okay for the first half...

Nuno has started with a back four in the league for 11 games in a row, he's only gone to a back three in the Cup although I don't think he'll try that against Brentford
  • Anybody at the game today, walking near exit 9 ... keep an eye out.

I've got a Champion's Place stone for John (grey) in the final installation. Apparently the installation is now complete (not great communication about this from the club, and no map as yet, but hey ho).

    But let's hope it's a good omen!!

The new panel is situated next to the Conference League panel which is the top left panel in Champions Place. This is located nearest exit door 9 of the stadium and adjacent to the Sir Trevor Brooking board.
according to their reply to my query.

  • Have to go out for dinner with friends at 18.30 so will watch first half and record second to watch on my return. Suspect I may be sufficiently anaesthetised to cope with any late drama.

    This is such a shock
  • Am flying back to Chicago today so will have to try and keep off media and watch the game after the fact.

Fernandes to win it with a 20 yarder!!!
  • I really hope we win this, because it's going to be really depressing if we don't following on from England getting thrashed in the rugby for the second week running.
  • Hermansen, Wan-Bissaka, Mavropanos, Disasi, Diouf, Magassa, Fernandes, Bowen ©, Souček, Summerville, Taty
Subs: Areola (GK), Walker-Peters, Scarles, Mayers, Kilman, Todibo, Kanté, Adama, Wilson
  • Just one change for Bournemouth, Tyler Adams replaces Ryan Christie at CM

    Tavernier on the bench

    Enes Unai is there too…
