Not sure if any of you guys remember but a couple of years ago West Ham entered a 7-a-side tourney in the summer, sending a load of relatively recently retired ex-pros to play for us kinda as if it were a Masters tourney. Turned out most other teams were full of currently playing 7-a-side specialists.
Anyway, we're playing in it again this summer, with a mix of a few ex players and a load of mainly Canadian (I think) 7s players, I watched a bit of it this afternoon, although, if you watch the clip below you'll understand, with no sound. Some cracking goals mind. Btw, the rules are that after 2 halves of football, you add one goal to the highest score, and carry on playing until that target is reached.
It's just like the PL, a clear foul not penalised led the opposition to equalise in Target score time (we lead 1-0 at the end of normal time) when 4 v 4, then, having stopped time as subs were being made, he let them take a corner when we had one player active (2 were being subbed so were basically on the halfway line) when we were 3 v 3 and they walked the ball into the net. Scenes. Shocking ref, he'll probably be in the PL next season.
I'd feel really bad for the Palace fans if that happened, but also I hate multi-club ownership models, so anything that makes them less popular is fine by me.
Uefa rules state that the club ranked highest in their domestic championship will be given entry to the competition. Lyon’s sixth-place finish in Ligue 1 gives them precedence over Palace, who came 12th in the Premier League.

I feel bad for the fans, especially given that this is the first major trophy place have ever won and I think this is the first time they have qualified for a proper European tournament - the only consolation is that it is reassuring that the team I support is not the only club likely to so embarrass themselves because make no mistake.
It's not really, it's not as if Palace have a history of qualifying for Europe, is it? It's an extremely unlikely occurance that they're now trying to work around (eg a blind trust or somesuch) to enable Palace to compete in the Europa League next season.
Well, you say it's an unlikely occurrence. yes - but surely any professional involved in running a multi-million pound business should be up to speed on this kind of thing?

It's a fundamental risk if you are involved in the ownership of more than one club within a confederation, and one which Textor seems happy to take. Yes, it will be bad luck for Palace if (big if imo, I doubt it will come to it) they miss out but I'm sure he is well aware and maybe thought it was extremely unlikely to happen, and now he's dealing with it.
This is why multi-club interest/ownership should be banned full stop in all professional football. These issues occur & there is always potential of a conflict of interest in relation to transfers & competitions.

Final group game on atm, 0-0 still, 10 mins to go.
But yeah, I do get what you're saying.
It's possible that Palace may miss out on any
European comps next season, and Forest could take their place in the Europa League.
Now that's a sign of bad management and planning, imo!
This is an oversight of westhamian proportions
