yes - Cray Wanderers did their new kit launch in 1971 in the local pub in St Mary Cray with a promotion: 1 free shirt with every four pints over a hot summer weekend, half price on the rest. It was a record sale of beer, kits and aspirins the next morning. Win win win I should say.

Oh and about 10% of the punters left their shirts behind which were promptly sold again.
.. and the Landlord of the pub was the Club Chairman ;wink
