I remember when I first started going as a lad in the early - mid eighties and not being that big at the time really meant getting there early to get to the front of the North Bank. During my early visits I remember thinking the keepers were massive, as big Phil would saunter into position giving an understated wave of his glove bag. Obviously we got to see many good goalkeeping performances from that vantage point and always remember being mightily impressed with the then Villa keeper called Nigel Spink, during one match he seemed to keep us out on his own.
