West Ham vs Brentford [15th Feb, 3pm]

I’m excited for this one, as it’ll be the first time Potter’s had a proper spell of time with the players before a match.

Something like:
Areola; Todibo/Coufal, Kilman, Cresswell; Wan-Bissaka, Soucek, Paqueta, Emerson; Bowen, Soler; Ferguson

  • Unlikely Kudus is left out imo, and I don't think Todibo has been training with the team yet (haven't seen him in any photos yet) so I'm not sure he'll be ready to start.
  • Paquetá hasn’t been training either the last week

True, but at least he's had a lot more football than Todibo so far this season.

  • Yeah but that’s why I said “something like”
  • Like us Brentford had two weeks off having been dumped out of the Cup by Plymouth although after yesterday's win over Liverpool that doesn't seem quiet as bad as it did

Perversely Brentford started the season with one of the best home records (W7 D1 L0) and were poor away (W0 D1 L7) but since mid December its switched around, they home form has plummeted (W0 D1 L4) while they've done well away (W2 D1 L1)

Thomas Frank is pretty consistent with eight players starting the last four games although it could have been ten.

Marc Flekken had started every Premier League match but missed the Spurs game with a pulled muscle. Iceland’s no.1 Hákon Valdimarsson was handed his first Premier League start but Flekken is expected back at the weekend

RB Mads Roerslav had started seven of the last eight Premier League games but joined Wolfsberg on loan. Brentford signed Italian U21 RB Michael Kayode on loan from Fiorentina - their only Janaury signing - but Kristoffer Ajer started against Spurs

The big summer signings haven’t been a great success, CF Igor Thiago recovered from knee surgery but only lasted four games before he got an infection while Fabio Carvahlo has only had one Premier League start since our visit in September

On the plus side 22yo Dutch CB Sepp van den Berg (Liverpool £25m) didn't attract much attention when he joined but has started 23 out of 25 games he’s been available

Joshua Dasilva and Aaron Hickey are still out with the same injuries they had last time we met while poor old Rico Henry pulled up with a hamstring in the FA cup against Plymouth just two weeks after he’d recovered from the ACL that had kept him out for three months

Frank set up 4-2-3-1 for the last three games but went 4-3-3 against Liverpool

    Most likely…

    Flekken???
    Ajer??? Collins Berg Lewis-Potter
    Norgaard Janelt
    Mbuemo Damsgaard Schade
    Wissa

    But possibly...

    Flekken???
    Ajer??? Collins Berg Lewis-Potter
    Norgaard Janelt Jensen
    Mbuemo Wissa Damsgaard

Bryan Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa lead the scoring with 14 and 11 while Mikkel Damsgaard is top for assists with 8

    Saw it on Insta WestHam.

Only Füllkrug, Summerville & Antonio looked absent.
  • Be nice to have a squad now where we can field an 11 & some subs that aren’t all keepers and U23s.
  • Essential to keep Mbuemo and Wissa quiet.

Thanks, I don't use Instagram so that's probably why I missed it. Füllkrug and Antonio are apparently in Dubai for warm weather rehab.
  • I think they’ve all been there.

Not only is Frank pretty consistent with his starting XI he doesn't make many changes during the match and when he does its usually the same players

In the last four matches he's made three substitutions in three matches and just two in the other

Mattias Jansen has been a substitute three times, Keven Schade, and 20yo Ukranian AM/CM/LM Yehor Yarmoliukand have been brought on twice while Fábio Carvalho, Ben Mee, Rico Henry (now injured) and recent arrival RB Michael Kayode all made single appearances

Otherwise the bench is Ethan Pinnock and a bunch of kids
  • No more messing about ,We need to win this one ,And to help my stress level have it done and dusted by the 70 min ...3-0 Win
  • Mbeumo is an outstanding player. Need to keep him quiet.

  • From Potter's presser:

Paqueta has trained, should be available
Alvarez has trained, should be available
Todibo has trained, might/should make the squad

    Füllkrug and Antonio unavailable

Bad news on Summerville, has had a setback, likely to be out until after the international break which is at the end of March 😭😭😭.
  • Oh, and Ferguson will need his minutes managed at the moment.
  • Frank confirms Flekken will start in goal
  • Just a heads up to anyone going to the match

No Greater Anglia Shenfield to Liverpool St and no Lizzie line Shenfield/Abbey Wood to Paddington

c2c running into Fenchurch Street via West Ham

We're going to have a busy day on the Central line

I'll be on a train from 2:30pm until 4:45pm, Hainault to White City and back so won't have a clue how the match is going until I finish
  • Really do need a win today. I think we all accept that things have improved since Potter & we are all excited by the future with him, but equally we are 16th in the PL - I mean short of being relegated it’s the second lowest placing you can be. That can’t be good enough for us & our standards.

We have had a few injuries but with more options available now & players saying how much better things now are, we really do need to start delivering some points starting today.
  • I saw our league position and had a bit of a moment, but looking again it's a bit ... unusual. I didn't want to say false, because the position is genuine enough. We are 16th, but we're four points from 11th - and have been up and down that pack in recent months - and are eight points from 17th! Get a point or three today and things look different again.
  • Not sure Bowen is playing. Changing room photo’s show Álvarez (19) and then Rodríguez (24) next to each other. 🤔

Goalkeepers shirts are always first (so explains why no 21 or 23). But no 20.
  • False alarm, Bowen filmed walking in
  • Thanks Lukerz ,That was 15 mins of stress i did not need =)
