Wow!!. How did we win that. All seemed to be lost at the second-half, Second half was entirely different and substitutions made the real difference. Summerville was excellent. I can breathe a bit know.
I must admit, I feel onfield refs tend to go with VAR referrals too often rather than sticking with their original decisions; soooooo glad the ref continued the trend today though, especially as, imo, it was very soft and I'm a bit surprised he was called to the screen at all.
In all honesty we should have been dead and buried at half time but that is on them - in the second half - the substitutions gave us belief and we came out with purpose, took the game to them and deserved our lead.
Typical poor defending allowed them to draw level but in fairness we would have settled for the point but then, in keeping with this very strange game, we were awarded a really soft penalty and held on desperately for the three points - really unbelievable.
Hopefully we also learned a few things from this game, for one Paqueta is not the talisman we may have thought he is - we can play without him - Soucek may not be elegant but is worth his place and Todibo is worth his weight in gold.
Smash and grab after the 1st half, for sure... Never a penalty IMO....especially against Man U!!! Are they no longer considered a top team..... Great 3 points, great improved 2nd half, but still somewhat lucky to get away with it, but hey, I'll take it......COYI
Ings went for the ball pulled out when deLigt came through and slammed into his knee. Also Kilman had his shirt tugged in proximity. Total pen for me! Also we’ve had so many things go against us vs Man Ute in the past. So todays victory in a small way makes up for that. Shame they’re in 14th and he’s getting sacked in the morning
I don't feel bad about the decision at all, as, as Baz says, we're so often on the wrong end of dodgy decisions against Man utd (ball 2 yards out of play anyone?), but just surprised such a marginal decision has gone our way. If it had been for Man Utd I wouldn't have been surprised at all, but I've just had to check the calendar to make sure it's not my birthday.
Fair play to Fabianski, what a servant to the club he's been.....
But he shouldn't be playing. He made one decent save, but rode his luck so many times. 3 off the top of my head are when he came charging out of the box and didn't get the ball, when he came for the corner but didn't get there and Alvarez headed onto the bar, and when he came for a cross that a Man Utd player beat him to and it just bounced off him and fortunately went safe. It's definitely a season too far imo. I'm not saying that Areola has played well, just that we need a better alternative.
West Ham beat Man Utd, Spurs lose, roast lamb in the oven (which will obviously be served with, amongst other things, Yorkshire puddings 😂🤣😂), and I've just opened a very nice Malbec. Happy days 😊😊😊

I did fear we were having another one of those photos like the one with Isak! Luckily Dalot is useless.
Lopetigui’s starting line up was strange, especially with Soler off the left. But the half time changes were brave and worked. (Maybe harsh on Mavropanos). I think we were overall better than them, though that penalty was lucky!

I hear what you say, but as much as I'd like to say I think Areola is our future...not 100% convinced....as J Lo seems to agree.....

On to the next one!
Guess that J Lo sees lots more than we do..I like Areola, lots.....but just perhaps an " old head " was what was needed today, whether by hook or crook.....
