Ipswich (H) 3pm Saturday 5th October (not on TV)
At last a home game that isn't on TV, that kicks off 3pm Saturday and isn't against a side that finished in the top 6!!!
Despite losing their first two league games; Liverpool (H), City (A) (plus going out on penalties in the Carabao Cup to AFC Wimbledon), Ipswich have drawn the last four; Fulham (H), Brighton (A), Southampton (A) and a very impressive performance to come back from 2-1 down against Villa (H).
Kieran McKenna has started six players in all six Premier League games and there are quite a few new faces
21yo CF Liam Delap is getting all the attention having scored 3 of Ipswich's 5 Premier league goals. Signed from City U21s in the summer for £20m after a season on loan at Hull (8 in 32)
20yo LW/AM Omari Hutchinson (Chelsea £18m) spent last season on loan at Ipswich while 24yo CB Jacob Greaves (Hull £15m) made the Championship team of the season
Players from last season who have retained their place in the starting XI are 33yo team captain and oldest player Egyptian CM/DM Sam Morsy, 24yo LB Leif Davis (also made Championship team of the season) and ex-Man Utd 26yo RB Axel Tuanzebe
Among the other new arrivals Kosovo's No 1 25yo Arijanet Muric (Burnley £15m) missed the first game against Liverpool for some unexplained reason but has been between the sticks for the last five league games
Kalvin Phillips has started three of the last four games while 25yo CB Dara O'Shea (Burnley £15m) has started the last three.
Best guess
Muric
Tuanzebe O'Shea Greaves Davis
Morsy Phillips
??????? Hutchinson ???????
Delap
Possible candidates for the LW/RW slots include 23yo Jack Clarke (Sunderland undisclosed), 29yo Welsh international Wes Burns (joined 2021), Irish internationals 27yo Chiedozie Ogbene (Luton undisclosed) and 29yo Sam Szmodics (Blackburn undusclosed)
Ben Johnson came on as a 2nd half sub against Liverpool, started against City and AFC Wimbledon but has been on the bench since then with just one 8 minute appearance against Saints.
Deja Vu?

Wan-Bissaka - Todibo - Kilman - Emerson
Souček - Kudos - Alvarez
Bowen - Antonio - Summerville
Pacqueta hasn't done much this season and gives the ball away too often in dangerous positions. He needs to be dropped and get his head sorted out. Could be an impact substitute. With Fullkrug injured, Antonio is the option at the top. Defence is pretty much sorted out though midfield is still a problem area.
Wouldn't mind Paqueta on the left wing as he has a good partnership with Emerson, but really his form has been so horrible he doesn't deserve to be in the XI

This weekends Fixture is the equivalent to Sheff Utd last season in which we prevailed by 2 goals to 0.
In more positive news, Lopetegui adds that there are no other injury problems for the Hammers and the manager will have the rest of his squad to pick from for the Ipswich game. It's been a disappointing start to the season for West Ham, so having an almost fully-fit squad will be hugely beneficial.
As for the rest of the team McKenna said...
"We have a got a few being assessed before Saturday. There’s a chance that there will be one or two changes to the team, but some of them are going to be pretty late calls"
Best guess (fitness allowing)
Muric
Johnson O'Shea Greaves Davis

Ogbene Hutchinson J.Clarke
Delap
I'd keep an eye on LB Leif Davis, joint 9th in the Prem for key passes per match, 2.3, along with Bowen, Antony Gordon, Salah and TAA
Reading around some of the Ipswich forums they really don't like us and are still moaning about getting knocked out of the playoffs in 2005. Most seem very confident of a win, reckon Jack Clarke and Delap will be too much for us.
Smash them and send them back to Suffolk to sulk some more
No lingering animosity
Ogbene on the bench along with LW Sammie Szmodics, last season's top scorer AM Conor Chaplin and RB Harry Clarke with his newly repaired hamstrings
