I think it's one where he's done more or less all he could with respect to his positioning and reactions, and then it's pretty much in the lap of the gods, or his team-mates, as to whether he gets lucky or not.
Downes has missed tonight's match and the two previous games after going off injured in the 5-3 win against Huddersfield. These 3 matches have seen Southampton lose their long unbeaten run against Bristol City, and they're currently 2 down at home to Hull. Looks like they could be missing him tbh.
Downes also missed today's game, another loss, this time at home to relegation threatened Millwall.
Yeah but even when fit they don't have a deadball specialist in Downes, one who is only one freekick goal away from Beckhams record. I bet Downes cant whip in all those near post corners that get instantly headed away that JWP does.
