I guess if Antonio is injured that's when he'll be tried there, the same as others have had to just be thrown in (including Antonio originally, before Moyes).
But I think he might actually be more of a direct replacement for Lingard. Very fast, very direct. Not the final product but maybe Moyes thinks he can work on that. Traore's a risky choice but he did have a very effective spell a couple of seasons ago. Remember that Lingard had only ever really had one impressive spell as a Man U player before he came to us. I was very against us signing Lingard before we did and other were skeptical as well and we were all wrong. It might be the same with Traore.
Traore is almost the epitome of the current team. Electric on the break but too often makes the wrong choice at the end of it.
I'm undecided. The idea of him and Antonio playing together is fun; no defence would want to face those two. But it would have to be as well as a striker rather than him being the striker.
So basically I'd take him as a Yarmolenko replacement, but not as a Haller replacement.
I just think Traore would be great to watch in claret & blue.I’ve seen him play up front and he looked a right handful but to see him doing a Ussain impression with defenders bouncing of him would be a thing of beauty. Look, it might not work out but it would be great fun to find out.
West Ham’s bid for Gabigol still on the table’ Sky Sports News’ Dharmesh Sheth:
“Earlier in this window I was talking about West Ham’s interest in the Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa.
“It all went quiet, and we thought that interest had gone away.
“In the past few minutes, I am told West Ham’s offer to Flamengo is still on the table. It hasn’t been withdrawn and the interest does remain.
“A reminder of West Ham’s proposal, an 18-month loan plus a 30m euro option to buy.
“Flamengo do not want to loan or sell Barbosa in this transfer window, but I’m also told Gabigol has a meeting with his agents and Flamengo officials tomorrow in which he will make it clear to them that he wants to make a move to England. He believes this is the right time to test himself once more.
“He feels he has unfinished business in European football and sees England as the ideal place to showcase his talents"
And like that striker has become a priority (again)
Cresswell back (but should be monitored) is massive and honestly it'll be hard bringing in someone better than him as he's one of the best in the league
CB also is looking less worrying with Zouma in the mend and close to a return, still think we'll target a CB but maybe a loan?
Funny how Cresswell has been with us for .. 10? Transfer Windows. More?
And there are never rumours about him.
Surely he'd improve most teams in the league?
Or are solid full backs fairly common?
I think he had a period spanning about 5 windows where he wasn’t playing particularly well, and then his resurgence has come post 30 so most teams in the league won’t be interested. I’m very glad there’s no rumours. I like having some long serving players at the club.

I think this is it. When he broke into the England set up at 26/27, he was linked with Liverpool and was approaching his prime. That pre-season injury basically ruined the next four years where he regressed so much.
He probably is now approaching those 2016 standards again, but he's now 32 with zero sell on value so is far less attractive to the bigger teams.
I can't help wondering if instead of building a team that will avoid relegation the Saudis are allowing Howe to build a team that will monster the Championship next season
Actually don't think Wood is a bad deal for The 'Toon' he may not be prolific, but he does know how to score goals, his record in general isn't bad, excluding this season, but Newcastle need goals and IMO he will get a fair few if the service is better than he's been getting at Burnley, time will tell if it was a good decision....

Tbf his form has been a bit of a rolercoaster
Went from two time hammer of the year (or runner up) when he joined, only to suffer a bad injury, then to return to an acceptable level, to get injured again (less severe but a inheritance knee injury) and really lose his way, to improving as part of a back 3 but still struggling in a 4, to one of the best full backs in the league
Perhaps, lucky for us that his form as among the best in the league has coincided with COVID

I actually think it's a good deal, it's too expensive but for Newcastle they have almost unlimited funds and need to stay in the prem
In a relegation fight you need the right characters, and Wood is a scrapper, his head won't go down when they're down and Newcastle finally get someone who can hold his own and try win it higher up the pitch
Weakening a rival is just the icing on the cake
Also Wood isn't gonna sell shirts but this is the first year he's not on course for double figures, he'll like working off of Wilson

Still, yet again only rumours.
Or will it be to play out wide when Bowen is our emergency striker?
Maybe the Moyesiah is playing mind games with the spuds to get them to sign him up.
Please 😁😁😁

Don't expect a LB this window unless we ship out Masuaku/Cresswell injury flares up
Also only expect we're after 1 CB now
Look, it might not work out but it would be great fun to find out.

I thought Wilson was out for months and that's why they bough him
Can't say I follow Newcastle injury news but he'll be back early-mid March I think
The good news is that Newcastle only have seven fixtures in the next 8 weeks and if Brighton beat Spurs in the 4th round it will be just six.
Moyes not interested in Randolph going to Villa on loan
