  • I was not realistically expecting much from the game but I was hopeful that we would have been more competitive than we have been, Newcastle lost yesterday but really competed with Spurs.

This will be a long last 8 or 9 minutes,
  • We seem to have better passing ability, but have gone back to Bilic style intenisty.
  • It’ll get better..............it has to!
  • Rubbish defending
  • Hate Sturridge!
  • At least we didn’t spend 100m not to defend
  • Two seasons running we open up with a 4-0 defeat.

    Supporting West Ham is exhausting.
  • The level of performance in this game is embarrassing.

We can keep making excuses but this club has been doing this for too long. 3 season’s now this has been going on. Drubbing after drubbing.

Nobody minds getting beat but the manner of this result is absolutely shocking. No intensity and no hunger from anybody.
  • I hate the guy who works out the fixtures!
  • Splendid we are bottom
  • I wonder if Pellegrini is missing China yet
  • I hate being bottom!
  • Four nil always sounds worse than three nil.
  • We spend a fortune on players and still look rubbish. The West Ham Way. ;lol
  • I said last year new manager new team and thrashed vs top team, still hope for 6th
  • DJ Hammer said:

Four nil always sounds worse than three nil.

    But better than five nil
  • At least our pre-season prepared us better for a thrashing. ;lol
  • My bacon sandwiches were tasty

We were 2nd best by a mile.
While disappointed with our performance , being realistic we won't be away up against a team that should finish in top 3 every week...
No excuses on our side tho, we weren't great....
    Early days...
  • I woke up early to watch this game. Time to go back to bed.
  • We've been worse than 2nd best before ;wahoo
  • Well that went well. I didn’t feel the need to concentrate after 20 minutes, so I got all my ironing done. Wilshire and Nobes both felt our pain ;nonono ;weep
I hope we can settle over the next few weeks, we have some real talent in the squad, (Italian theatrics not needed). I hope the bloke who did the first weekends fixtures gets a really deep paper cut and then peels an orange.
  • I just get the horrible feeling we will be bottom of the table going into the second game week :(

    ;hmm

There’ll be champagne being popped open in Colin’s household this evening as his side sits above ours
  • Arsenal city next, I have a feeling we may not be bottom :)

Well I guess it will be of consolation if we sit above Man City after that game is done
  • Whose idea was it for Snodgrass to defend the near post at corners. What a flick on! but someone tell him to save it for the other end. ;angry
  • OCS @ 1.50 & Preston at 2.23.

Nothing to be concerned about we still have until the transfer window closes to rectify the problem. Hang a minute we can't, not until January, & the bloke we got at the eleventh hour is supposed to be slow so won't add any dynamism to our midfield. Can't say we won't warned.
  • Although I maintain we don’t have a single DM good enough for the top half of the Prem, I don’t think Liverpool away is a fair game on which to judge this. Let’s see how good we are defensively against the likes of Bournemouth, etc
  • I for one are still confident of seeing a much improved side this season, disappointing result but against a very good side. I thought we tried to move the ball about quicker, i thought that Anderson worked hard and tracked back well. I got the feeling that against anyone other than a very top team we will do well. Too early for gloom and despondency.
  • Could it be that Pelle had written this game off as a dead cert defeat, and in light of a not very informative pre-season, decided to see what worked and what didn't, both in set-up and players.
He's definitely got a lot to ponder on that performance.

And as I write that, Unai Emery has just suffered his first goal against. ;biggrin
