  • And hopefully you’ll have another 36 to do.
  • Hermansen
    Veltman - Mavropanos - Kilman
    Bowen - Mukasa - Engels - Kanté - Austbø
    Solomon
    Piroe
  • I think we should be going with a back four against the league leaders. I also think this is a game for Pablo.

Hermansen: Veltman Mavropanos Kilman Morato; Bowen Mukasa Engels Austbo; Pablo; Taty

I'd be happy with that, although would probably prefer Solomom over Austbo.
  • Need plenty of energy and for once the lads needs to turn up in the first half.

Yeah I typically agree, but I thought Solomon looked leggy last night, he obviously played in the international break, and he’s got a very bad injury history, so I just wonder about resting him when Austbo impressed off the bench.

Such a novelty to have strength in depth in the attacking department...

As I mentioned in the Lincoln thread Solomon had back spasms while he was with Israel so while it is logical to play our strongest side in a match against the league leaders he needs careful game-time management

We don’t want to lose him for weeks/months for the sake of just one game

I would post my blurb but I write them during my meal breaks at work and it’s my day off today. And I don’t start until 11pm tomorrow so it’s going to be a late one

But to summarise; Swansea are odd
  • Also Nuno seems to rotate Veltman and Walker-Peters, and Swansea aren’t as “physical” as Lincoln so think KWP will start

Also Nuno seems to rotate Veltman and Walker-Peters, and Swansea aren’t as “physical” as Lincoln so think KWP will start

KWP looked lively in attack when he came on, but given it was I) Lincoln and II) Only 82% of Lincoln for much of the match, it's hard to learn too much.

Hope not, think KWP has been one of the biggest (if not biggest) disappointment for me this season, he's so experienced and has performed at this level but think he's been awful if I'm being honest
  • I popped into to work but...

    There’s something odd about Swansea

Take Zan Vitpotnik for example, possibly the only Swansea player we’ve all heard of because we were linked with him in the summer

The Slovenian CF was Championship top scorer with 23 in 44, he was named Swansea’s player of the season by both fans and players and was named in the Championship team of the season. As well as us he was linked with Coventry, Strasbourg and Hull had a £10m bid rejected

This season he’s only had three starts and was subbed all three times without scoring. Every other game he’s come on as a substitute but didn’t score in the first six matches and has only scored twice

Instead Ireland’s Adam Idah has started eight and scored four. He joined from Celtic last season but missed three months with injury and scored 5 of his 6 goals last season off the bench

You'd think with two decent strikers the manager would be using both but...

Victor Matos is Swansea’s fifth manager in three seasons and he’s only been a manager for 16 months, spending just 11 matches at Martimo in the Portuguese Liga 2 before joining Swansea in November. He seems an unusual choice by the owners...

And the owners? In 2024 the club was bought by an American investment group whose members include Luka Modric, Mindy Kaling, Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg

    It’s just…odd
  • It's football ASLEF, but not how we know it.
  • And the owners? In 2024 the club was bought by an American investment group whose members include Luka Modric, Mindy Kaling, Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg.

That is a really interesting/odd group of characters. For those who don't know, Mindy Kaling was in the US version of The Office.
  • That is a consortium that could only come together with help of LSD!
  • I’m just happy that the Ayew Brothers aren’t playing. They really had it in for us
  • I’d like to see the following:

    Hermansen
    Veltman Mavro Kilman Morato
    Bowen Engels Kante Austbo
    Pablo
    Taty
  • Despite having two good strikers Matos has stuck with a 4-3-3. They keep possession with short passes and play down the wings

    There's a few injuries

Last season Australian CB Cameron Burgess played every minute of every match, this season he lasted 83 minutes before suffering a major Achilles injury in the Carabao Cup against Birmingham which could keep him out until the summer.

New arrival Stephen Welsh (Celtic, free) stepped in to fill the gap and he was good enough to get awarded his first caps for Scotland

They also lost first choice right back Josh Key with a hamstring before the international break, he's not expected back for a few weeks and back up Czech U21 Filip Lissah picked up his 5th yellow on Tuesday so they'll either need an U23 or someone to play out of position

Canadian CM Stephen Eustaquio (Porto, £3.4m) suffered a shoulder injury in a friendly against the USA and has missed the last two.
  • Otherwise its a fairly impressive squad

In goal they have Chile's No 1 Lawrence Vigouroux, captain CB Ben Cabango has 19 caps for Wales and LB Josh Tynan was named in the Championship Team of the Season.

As defensive back up they have 23yo CB Jenson Seelt on loan from Sunderland and Portugal U20 LB Tiago Parente on loan from Benfica

In midfield take any three from Kiwi Marko Stamenic (8 starts), longest serving player Jay Fulton, new arrival Kiwi Elijah Just (Motherwell £6m) (7 starts each), Melker Widell (1 cap for Sweden) (5 starts) and Goncalo Franco (1 start)

On the wings Moussa Yeo (Red Bull Salzburg, undisc) has been preferred on the right and Ghana's Joseph Opoku (Zulte Waregem £5.6m) on the left although Widdel occasionally plays winger while Korean LW Eom Ji-Sung and RW Ronald (who scored the winner midweek) are options

    Pablo - Taty

Is what I think we may see today
  • West Ham United: Hermansen, Veltman, Mavropanos, Kilman, Morato, Engels, Kanté, Mukasa, Bowen ©, Solomon, Pablo Subs: Areola (GK), Walker-Peters, Scarles, Golambeckis, Souček, Orford, Austbø, Taty, Piroe

    One change, Mukasa for Piroe
  • Pablo up front alone isn’t going to work
  • Personally, I feel like that’s too much respect shown to Swansea. We should be just going at them

A bit surprised to see Pablo leading the line. I think Piroe deserved to be dropped as he wasn't good against Lincoln. Not sure what else Austbø has to do to start a game. He changed the game and mood against Lincoln.
  • Seems that Kanté will be playing high with Pablo
  • Vigouroux
    Ronald, Cabango, Welsh, Tymon,
    Fulton, Stamenić, Franco,
    Yeo, Idah, Opoku

    RW Ronald at RB
  • Won't be able to watch much of this one I fear; a mechanic is coming to hook my car up and we've got to tow it to his workshop. Was supposed to be happening tomorrow, but now he's switched it to this afternoon, right when the match is on. C'est la vie.
  • I feel like a bit of a dinosaur here, but I’m a little out of the loop with streaming websites. Would anyone be happy to share a reliable one (or message me if sharing publicly isn’t advisable)?

    We’ve got one up front

    I joke… I actually love Pablo!
