    Comfortable win against a poor team. Should have been 5-0 but can't have it all.
    Mukasa is so assured for an 18 tear old. Good performances all over the pitch. Not sure why Scarles gets beaten up for every mistake he makes, just like Kilman last season.

    And to top it all managed to meet up with MrsG. ⚒

    100% this. Young players make mistakes sometimes, and need some patience. If we can’t afford them that patience we can’t bemoan a lack of young players coming through.

    I think That @alderz & @IronHerb need to relax a bit re Scarles.....

    Some of us say exactly what we see, we're not Scarles haters, I'm sure we all want him to do well and succeed at WHUFC, just like we did with Potts, Earthy etc etc....

    @IronHerb unfortunately some of Scarles mistakes have been costly, I even remember the Fulham game last season, but none of us has a personal grudge against him, well as far as I know we don't.....

    @alderz we all know ALL players make mistakes, not just young players, but if some of us feel that Scarles is sometimes a liability, or perhaps like others have deemed to be, not good enough ( NB, I'm NOT saying that )......I know you have always stated that we're all entitled to speak as we see as long as it's in the site rules, and that's all it is........

    On a more positive note, think Piroe, Veltman and Musaka have already proved good signings, especially like Musaka, has been my MOM for last few games.....

    So, what you’re saying is that some people (you) say what you see, which means what exactly? That other people (me, herb) are not saying what we see? Nobody mentioned you in their posts. I personally was talking about the people sat around me yesterday. Not everything is a dig at you.

    Perhaps it wasn't Alderz, but it's also a general thing on here...
    Anyhow, like @IronHerb said, we're all entitled to our opinions, and perhaps like your fellow viewers yesterday, I see what they see....

    I never ever said no one is not allowed to say what they think, For clarity, because you want clarity on my own views, so, at times I feel Scarles isn't good enough, I'm not saying he won't improve, I'm not saying I don't want him to improve, I'm not saying I don't like him, all I'm saying is he's cost us a few times, and at times I see a player that at present makes too many mistakes......It's simple really, I say what many people see in front of us....

    Hope that clears up my thoughts on Scarles, and without being funny, coming onto this site and you often standing up for Scarles, even before the game, how am I or others meant to know you are talking about people outside this forum ?......

    Think thats an oversimplification tbh

    Scarles is a young player yes and does need some time, but hes also a professional footballer on a professional footballers contract

    This isnt a charity, we dont integrate youth players for the sake of it, if we did then we'd have hung onto Hines, Stanislas, Cullen, Coventry, Alese and so on and we'd be in league 1

    I said multiple times on the transfer thread before the season began I'd be happy with Scarles and Mayers as LB options

    He's started 4 of our first 5 games and hes struggled in most of those (and directly lost a few points)

    There were 2 instances yesterday he played suicidal balls in our defensive 3rd under a little pressure but not exaclty loads and they got chances from it. He had a out 4 or 5 instances to cross from a dangerous position and all were awful, some couldn't beat the first man, one was floated directly to the keeper and a few didnt get within 10 metres of one of our players. He also knocked the ball out under zero pressure

    Just because hes young, doenst mean I think he had a good game

    Was at the game with my sister yesterday who watches little football and even she could see he was struggling and mentioned his head kept dropping everytime he made a mistake

    Hes got potential, but atm he feels like hes got a massive error in him every game, and so far he kind of has

    I do think there is a tendency in the modern fan to become abusive of players & not apply the same consistency with other players, which I think is where ald & Herb are coming from.

    We can all see when Scarles is struggling, I have mentioned players get in behind him several times & his crossing is not up to much, but then it almost feels like there becomes a targeted agenda against a player; everything he does wrong is highlighted dramatically, then paired with phrases like ‘rubbish, awful, shocking’ (not saying on here).

    He may not be the long term best LB for West Ham, but he doesn’t need to be catostrophised over & abuse via commmets, especially if not applying the same consistency to other players when they make mistakes.

    Maybe he needs to be taken out of the starting line up and used as a late substitute when the opposition attack is tiring.
    And maybe he needs some more coaching on how to cross.

    I'm glad I don't do social media, it's easy to hide behind the screen and become derisive.

    I really hope he gets a chance to prove some of us ( including me ) that he does have what it takes, but up till now, the jury is still out IMO....

    We'll have to see who NES sees as his first choice soon, but till then I hope he can improve, TBH I liked what I saw of Mayers last season, but he seems to be out of favour/ behind Scarles for now...

    I feel for Scarles because he is expected to run up and down the full 115 yards and often Kilman defends quite narrow/central leaving him with acres of space to cover. Solomon does generally drop back to help out but he's not much of a defender.

    Scarles needs time, and he will get better. However, at the moment he is finding things a challenge.

    I am most disappointed with his crosses. He gets in great positions through relentless running and good link up play going forward, but then wastes the cross.

    He can surely improve this in training

    I was not able to watch it live but have caught up now, overall a pretty good performance and for me Mukasa definitely caught the eye.

    Am liking the look of this squad and for the first time in ages feel we can put out a challenging team beyond the “first” eleven
