    candbsky, We made it like a supermarket sweep trolley dash particularly due to the need to see what happened with the players who wanted to leave and it's "The West Ham Way" to do it in that fashion as plenty of our rivals got their main transfer business concluded weeks ago.

    Some reports saying Magassa has apologised and will be reintegrated into the squad, which i think is a positive even if I haven't seen much from him

    Obviously Nuno had an idea about him as he has a better record in La Liga than Dieuf had in the PL from both a defensive and attacking perspective.

    Personally, given the circumstances, the window was a huge success IMO.

    I agree with this. I am especially pleased that we still have Bowen, Taty, Soucek, Mavro, KWP, Pablo and our x2 keepers. That is a very good basis to start with. Hopefully Kilman gets better, the new signings and our youngsters slot in, and the manager finds a West Ham way that is exciting but gets us out of the League and back in the Prem.

    I genuinely believe this could be a great season for us.

    IF so, do we just cancel his contract & let him leave on a free, I certainly don’t hope so 🤦🏻‍♂️. We have already let some players go on unfavourable terms & yes I know you can only accept what a club is willing to pay. Oh for the promising future we were looking forward to in June.

    I wonder if any club has been successful in pursuing breach of contract, or stopping wages, if a player refuses to train/ play.

    I'd love to see it happen but I think mostly everyone just decides to move on.

    I still believe we have a promising future.
    Alvarez is not the missing link by any means.

    Rumour has it he was all ready to retire but his wife said she fancied another legal scrap, 'I'll get me boots' he said.

    On a serious note I can't see him bringing anything at 39 years of age. A goalkeeper maybe, an experienced centre half that knows how to read the game well, possibly, but a striker whose main threat was a burst of speed to take him past a final defender, unlikely.

    Don't forget the Vardy penalty - just step in front of the chasing defender in the penalty area and take a tumble, it worked every time. The amazing thing was how often he got away with it.

    The rumours on the various West Ham aggregator sites at the moment are that Magassa and Alvarez will not be sold to one of the countries with a late window closure. Nuno wants Alvarez to play, but he has wanted out which is why he's been absent so far. Magassa has apparently apologised to the team and to Nuno and wants to be reintegrated, but is currently injured.

    I get the impression he is in denial about his career, a bit like a boxer who never knows when it's over. I would love to see him get regular game time and some goals but I really can't see it happening. I think Burnley will get a little more from Vardy than Watford will from Antonio.

    Antonio was seriously in decline, imo, before his accident, so I really don't see him having a stellar career going forward.

    I wish him nothing but good things. Always worked hard for us, often in a thankless situation. Seemed to be a good guy ( influence) in the squad.

    But of course hoping he doesn't score against us, that's all.
