    At the end of the day we certainly dominated but failed to really create a clear cut chance worthy of the name and they looked dangerous on every counter.

    I think that overall we have played well enough in our three league games to have secured a better points haul and I am confident that we will start to gel and climb the table.

    I am not overly concerned

    Chicago if I didn’t know where you’re based, judging by the time posted I would have thought you were suffering from sleep deprivation.
    We have dominated three games but created virtually nothing, have had hatfuls of shots but most nowhere near the goal.
    Do they not use goals in training.

    It is very clear to see we are playing a completely different way to last season. Is Nuno capable of getting this side creating & scoring with 60% of the ball most weeks, we will see. He probably needs a bit longer but these players also need to produce the goods. Bowen, Taty, Engels, Solomon - they have to create & score.

    We played far better yesterday, compared to Burnley & Charlton.

    We need to be much tighter defensively. If we were able to keep clean sheets we’d have won all of our games. We have already seen that we are likely to create chances (question mark over the quality of those chances) and we have high enough quality players who can make moments. For me, we should be prioritising defensive solidity until we can work out our best way of unlocking defences

    Agree, & we will create clearer chances when already 1-0 up when sides are more open to trying to get back into the game. Going 1-0 down instantly means we are facing a side with 11 behind the ball.

    We've 9 defenders listed on the OS but, they include 3 youngsters, Todibo who doesn't appear to be in Nuno's plans, Scarles who, imo, flatters to deceive, Kilman, and a Mavropanos who seems nothing like the player he was for the second half of last season alongside Disasi.

    I get that Golembeckis is well regarded and had a solid game yesterday, but that's a dreadful set of defenders for a club that was in the PL last season.

    11 corners yesterday and I can't recall a decent chance coming from any of them. Need Bowen taking them from the right again and Tommy back from injury.

    Did anyone else notice at least we sort of have a player capable of a long throw in, Golambeckis, not amazingly long, but more than the rest it seems.....

    NES wants to play counter attacking football like he used to great success at Forest but that plan goes out of the window if we concede first. These two new young wingers who we might sign are quick but will struggle against teams that defend deep especially if they are protecting a lead.

    The goal yesterday is currently where we are defensively, not enough is being done to not concede goals.

    Veltman, experienced defender, just stands the player up & let’s him check inside for the shot (I mean, you don’t stand a player up there, you do it on the byline of wing, he’s in our 18 yard box, needs to tackle or get closer). Engels doesn’t go & support Veltman, even though he is basically free & just to his left. Hermansen is slightly too far off his line. These are all costly decisions that mean we are currently letting in soft goals. As soon as we go 1-0 down early, we are now struggling with how we want to play. Charlton, Portsmouth, Watford will just sit players behind the ball & counter attack.

    Again, I think it’s mentality. How much do you want to keep that ball out your net?

    I was slightly frustrated yesterday as there were a couple of times where we were awarded a free kick in a promising position and instead of crossing it into the box we chose to pass the ball quickly sideways to the wings which failed to result in anything positive.

    Not really sure why we seemed reluctant to get it in the mixer when presented with the opportunity to do so.

    But what do I know

    Lukerz, Surely there is an element of professional pride? I know this sounds like a miserable old *** comment but they are paid shed loads to play and they should earn it. Maybe that is why the young players are trying because they understand what it's like to play for West Ham United. Bowen should know better.

    Just watched the highlights on You tube and Watford's goal was IMO down to Hermansen's awful positioning.

    For at least one occasion for sure we had Piroe on the pitch….might not be Bob Latchford but……

    One thing about us struggling to break down teams - this isn’t the first time and Nuno isn’t our first to struggle with it. Moyes had a really tough time with this after that really successful spell after the first Covid lockdowns. We were one of the most exciting teams in the league for a while then others decided to sit deeper against us when they realised our threat, suddenly Lingard and co were pretty ineffective. I think we’re going to face a season like that because we’re expected to be a threat. Maybe the bad start may even help by allowing teams to decide they’re going to have a go at us, leaving a bit of space.

    I do also think all those corners on Saturday would’ve been perfect for Soucek (though I think Piroe, Taty and Kilman should also be taking advantage of them).

    I think several people commented during the game, but I still can't understand the choice to take Bowen off corners on the right. His inswinging corners were incredibly effective last yaer.
