    Jay - to be fair, it is just excuses, this side should have been capable of winning one of our opening three games

    Draw was about right in the end. Much better in the second half but they were dangerous on the break.Thought Golambeckis was excellent as well as looking ( from a distance) a dead ringer for Kevin Lock - one for the kids there.

    I've been saying NES isn't getting the best out of these players for a while, whether it's him, his tactics/formation, I don't know, but he's paid to get it done, and so far in the league, after 3 games, it hasn't been great has it.....

    It's just very frustrating as In my view we have been the best team in each match we have played, but have very little to show for it. I would probably be more worried had we not looked dominant but had an extra win on the board. Charlton are top with 9 points and we were much better than them.

    43 matches to go and I feel we will hit our stride soon and go on a run that takes us into the places that matter - Frustrating but not overly concerned.

    They looked fine but they're not tenacious, aggressive defenders. We need a Dawson or Collins type who will get their head on everything and throw themselves in front of the ball.

    We had just ONE shot (out of 13) on target, compared to Watford's 5 (out of 16).
    I think putting KWP on the left blunted Bowen. There were too many backward and square passes. Not sure, if Nuno is still trying to find his best midfield and front combination. Last year, it took a while to find that Soucek and Fernandes were the best. This year, he hasn't so far found that. Engels is yet to deliver. Kante is erratic and Orford is still developing. Need reinforcements.

    Totally agree @Lukerz, myself & @Fortuneseeker have been calling it for a while....
    So, I don't want it to happen, but if we get beat by Wolves, do we stick with NES, or be brave ( some will say stupid, I know ) but do we stick or twist......

    So that sounds like you agree that NES isn't doing enough, or getting enough out of them, I guess we have to be a bit patient, but it will soon run out if this continues...👍🏻⚒️

    Our problem for many years is how to break down teams when we have most possession.

    We play best on the counter attack, but can’t defend it!

    We need more pace in midfield with an extra man, so 4-4-3. This was how we beat Southampton.

    Boy we need Soucek back

    I don't get the downer on the manager. He's sending out a team that dominates possession, creates loads of chances...

    Apart from asking him to put his boots on, what more can he do?

    I didn’t.
    For gawd’s sake it’s a 46 game season, and we’re losing and bringing in players who have to adapt to what the manager wants.

    I agree Slacker but my concern is that Nuno seems to lack something tactically sometimes and I find some of his substitutions strange. Perhaps we will burst into life when the ins and outs are sorted. Fingers crossed!

    But it’s not just this season IMO.
    He had players worth over £185 million at his disposal last season, yet he failed.
    What hope has he got without them.
    You have to look at both sides of the argument.
    It’s not just these 3 games, he was a failure in what he was employed to do last season, so what make anyone think he can succeed with a far inferior team….Just putting it out there …👍🏻

    If you’d seen the match you’d have seen that while we had the bulk of possession. We hardly looked threatening and in all reality we looked out of sorts and not a team, more just like a group of players thrown together, IMO…👍🏻

    That is always the problem with relegation. You are inevitably a group of players thrown together until about October. I recall going to the first game at Preston some years ago when we picked up Neil Mellor on loan from Liverpool at some services on the M6 on the way to the game!

    IMO (so take with a pinch of salt if you wish)

    We created very little in the first half, and looked very vulnerable on the counter attack - particularly down our right, where Veltman looked out of position a lot of the team (maybe to help out the young boy next to him?), and it led to their goal. Once they scored, we sort of sprung to life a little bit. Second half was all us. It felt like a goal was only a matter of time, but there weren't any particular chances that I can recall. Once Mukasa came off I think we looked much more blunt. He is very keen to play punchy forward passes and make life difficult for defenders, and Piroe just plays so very differently that it hurt our momentum.

    I know that on paper we created a lot of chances, but it felt more like we had a lot of shots, rather than created decent changes. The biggest moment of quality was Taty playing in Solomon, but their defender made an incredible recovery tackle.
