2026 Summer Transfer Speculation

  • He played at Leicester City last season on loan and my friends who watched him regularly said he was rubbish but I suppose you could say that about their whole team. Is he any better than what we already have or is he just a filler for the squad, another body in the building?

Which is funny because I spoke to a Man City mate and he said before the Leicester loan, where he was flung into a team in freefall mid-season, he was the closest prospect to the first team and was getting chances in cup games.

I'd say on paper, he seems a superior prospect to Earthy (mostly because Man City youth have a much higher hit rate than us) so in that regard its hopeful he can make a positive impact

Worst case hes a decent bakcup
  • The difficulty with anyone on the right wing is that everybody knows Bowen is going to play if he's fit, and normally for 90 minutes.
  • But Bowen moves into the centre, as and when required, so there maybe opportunities.

    A talented squad option

His stats at Leicester suggest he knits play together, dribbles, presses well & draws fouls - was in the top percentages of Leicester players that did those things in minutes allowed (5 G/A in 10 starts)
  • Aston Villa in market for a CB…

    Bid rejected for Harwood-Bellis

    Mavropanos?

Just for context - if we sign Mukasa tomorrow - that’s 6 signings since August 6th

    #patience
  • Lukerz, Tomori?

He does, but also he's much worse in the middle than on the wing.
  • It’s just give us another option, competes/replaces Solomon, a number 10 instead of Taty/Piroe/Pablo, plays on the right & Bowen moves central, rotation in certain games.
  • Any rumours about who we might be signing, a CB?
  • Must be somebody, but no links yet - to be fair, other than Engels, all of our business has been kept very quiet so far until around a day or so before the signing
  • Marcel off to the palace

  • Shame, should have moved to us on a permanent basis, what does he expect to happen after his loan finishes?
  • I think getting a new CB is a MUST, I know we signed Veltman, which I believe will be a decent bit of business, but IMO we are still 1 decent CB short......
  • He would be with us if we had stayed in the Prem
  • If that’s just a straight loan for Disasi maybe we can sign him if we manage to get straight back up.

No well wishes for AWB or Füllkrug - we usually very clearly state something about wishing the well & thanking them for their efforts. Maybe an indication of a lack of professionalism from each.

Just Todibo, Álvarez & Cornet to go
  • We’ve averaged a signing (almost) every other day over the last two weeks
  • It was pretty obvious that Disasi had no interest in playing in the Championship, he's got a contract with Chelsea until 2029 so he can wait for a decent offer

Fullkrug played in our pre-season and went on the USA tour before he was sent to train on his own

AWB was part of the squad until the end of last season, played when he was asked to and sat on the bench when he wasn't. After he came back from the World Cup he wasn't included in any of the pre-season

An indication of a lack of professionalism from whoever writes for the website

They have gone on loan, not left the club.

Every other player I have found who we have loaned has had well wishes from the club for their loan spell. Definitely some intent behind that omission.
  • I know many will say don’t sell, he has potential, he’s young, but my god he was bad 90% of the time he played last season
  • I think it makes sense now why all these players have been left out, they seem to have been in active negotiations for some time with other clubs

As I said, more to do with the people running the website than the players who have behaved like professionals despite Nuno and the club exiling them to the Bomb Squad
  • But we assume he has his reasons why he did that? For example, lack of effort & heart not in it
  • Guess we'll never know what's going on behind the scenes, IMO I reckon a bit of both, NES comes across a bit stubborn sometimes, but I'm just speculating.....All I do know is, get a CB in soon......Otherwise it'll IMO cost us big time....
  • All the best managers make tough calls - I rembwer when Pep went to City & the first thing he did was bomb our club favourite Joe Hart

So were a fair few of the first X1 last season!!!!

How many players have actually left and how many have come in? I don't see any real evidence of a realisation that we need strength in depth to compete in the Championship which we haven't got atm.
