  • I’m cool with Piroe in theory. I don’t mind that he didn’t cut it in the PL because I think it was players like Vaz Te who were key for us last time.

But watching his highlights he looks a bit like the type of striker who’s flopped with us over the last 5 or so years. Big and slow. Though maybe that’s fine in the championship.

Nuno likes these sorts of strikers - Jimenez, Wood - he just got the wrong one in Pablo
  • Big and slow, isn't that Fulkrug?
  • Great news

2nd player (Solomon the 1st) bought that are both in their prime and been members of the "chanpionship team of the season" and neither mean we're breaking the bank

Sensible signing, now lets get another right back and centre back

Yeh, and if Diouf departs, a LB as well.....
  • Another one about to bite the dust ( it seems ).....https://www.claretandhugh.info/earthy-exit-agreed-as-west-ham-clearout-shows-no-sign-of-slowing/

Just gotta hope there are some more incomings.....
  • No one had factored this happening into our outgoings/incomings had they? Better have some good deals for players coming in otherwise Nuno agreeing to sell our good young players off won't go down well.
  • Mark Noble was a great advocate of Earthy, thought he had big potential. Also he did well while on loan at Bristol City a good Championship side.
  • That's a shame ,Really thought it might work out for him with us ,Good luck to him at Reading
  • Do we have any young players left

In our first team squad, Diouf, Scarles, Orford, Engels, Kanté, Magassa, Lamadrid & Pablo are all 22 or younger. Outside of that, Herrick, Casey, Mayers and Ajala have played first team football for us, and Byrne, Colau, Battrum, Clayton, Landers, Cummings and Murphy have played first team football at some level.
  • What about Fearon thought he might get a look in this season

He's still here, but he's not currently listed in our first team squad, and has never played first team football.
  • Thanks Alderz .

No point keeping Earthy - just not good enough for top end Championship/PL, hence why he’s off to League One. Wish him well.

Piroe - smart signing & we’ll see that after 46 games. Basically the Championship Haaland - doesn’t do much but bang in 20 goals.
  • I’d say we now need another CB & another attacking player - someone who can play as a wide or AM player - before the window shuts (minimum). I think we will sign another four players, as I think others may leave.
  • Definitely need a CB, Kilman does his hamstring Saturday & we’re bringing on Casey of Golambeckis (or sticking Veltman there)

He did for the first season there but only played 10 times last season.

Our job as a club is not to produce players that play for our first 11 & the national team. That’s the dream. Our role is to produce & nurture talent, giving them opportunities, to pursue a career in football. We have done that with Earthy, like we did with Tomkins, Sears, Stanislas, Spence, Diangana, Lee (x2), Potts (x2). You occasionally get a Noble, but it’s not frequent (for any club).

Few systems we can now play, when everybody is fit

    4-4-2
    Hermansen
    Walker-Peters - Mavropanos - Kilman - Scarles
    Bowen - Souček - Engels - Solomon
    Taty - Piroe

    4-3-3
    Hermansen
    Walker-Peters - Mavropanos - Kilman - Scarles
    Kanté - Souček - Engels
    Bowen - Solomon
    Piroe

    3-4-3
    Hermansen
    Veltman - Mavropanos - Kilman
    Walker-Peters - Souček - Engels - Diouf
    Bowen - Solomon
    Piroe
  • To back up what Lukerz posted as far as I can see the only 3 who played for the First X1 on a regular basis from the 1999 Youth Cup winning team are - Bywater, Carrick & Cole.

Terry, Battrum (Briggs 89), Scarles, Orford, Clayton, Casey (Tarima 80), Kelly, Earthy (Rigge 85), Marshall, Kodua (c), Mubama

Subs: Herrick (GK), Fawunmi, Briggs, Mukasa, Jones

This is the squad from 2023, how many have made it to be the First team so far?
  • I wonder if Philogene or McAtee may be available for deals. Both done well in Championship but not really had an impact in PL.
  • Few reports we are interested in watford captain Imran Louza ,Dont know to much about him and why would they want him to go
  • Ex is reporting that West Ham are in talks to loan in Divine Mukasa, an 18 year old attacking midfielder, from Man City. He spent 10 years at our Academy.
  • Surprising move as hes kind of a right winger or a #10 which we dont really use

Sounds a talent and a good depth optuon city's youngsters have fantasies education and generally do well once sold
  • He played at Leicester City last season on loan and my friends who watched him regularly said he was rubbish but I suppose you could say that about their whole team. Is he any better than what we already have or is he just a filler for the squad, another body in the building?
