Yes Slacker it has. It's under refurbishment until something positive happens on the transfer front or someone takes proper control of the club. I am sure that it will be open before that as some feel there is nothing to worry about.

Good to know, I’m sure it’ll be as banged out as ever before soon.

I'll be in there Saturday evening Slacker. 🍻

16 of our current squad include (with Nuno as manager)…

    Hermansen
    Areola
    Wan-Bissaka
    Walker-Peters
    Mavropanos
    Todibo
    Kilman
    Diouf
    Souček
    Álvarez
    Ward-Prowse
    Magassa
    Bowen
    Cornet
    Taty
    Füllkrug

Yet there are fans who don’t believe we have a squad able to compete for promotion in the Championship?

The only inexperienced ‘unknowns’ are Scarles, Kanté, Lamadrid, Pablo (plus the youth).

There is no point saying ‘yes but x, y & z will leave’. They haven’t yet (in over 2 months) & we don't know for certain they will. Until they do, we pay them & they are in our squad.

The club have been bold this summer. They decided to keep a PL level manager (albeit not faultless) & they have decided to keep a core group of PL players together, instead of a complete reset of the squad (which I assumed would be the case). As a result, they’ve aimed for some sort of stability following relegation & achieved it to a degree. A lot of these players have been at the club two years or more.
  • Ex has reported (apparently) that former Brighton player Veltman is having a medical

Although you state 'no point saying......will leave.

I cannot see at least 3 of these players ever putting the Hammers shirt on again IMO...

And that is a minimum of 3....That leaves us, IMO well, well short.....
  • But the club can’t sign players if they are still paying players on the books, so whilst we can all say ‘Todibo will go’, until he does we are paying him a lot of money a week, absorbing our limited finances

I'm not arguing that fact and understand what you saying, but at the same time you have to be realistic IMO and agree that you listed 16, including 2 keepers....

But for one reason or another, 3 of them won't even be considered ( by all accounts )...

So IMO the number 16 really is 13 including 2 keepers....
  • I think if the window closes & we haven’t been able to move them on, they will be considered
  • I personally think Alvarez & Todibo will never play for us again, but let's see, it'll be an interesting time till the end of the transfer window.....And won't be surprised to see AWB + 1 or 2 others leaving....
  • So based on some positivity can we expect this starting line up on Sunday - Hermansen, AWB, Todibo, Mavropanos, Diouf, Alvarez, Magassa, Cornet, Bowen, Pablo & Taty.

Because this is our best X1 we can select IMHO.
  • It won’t be but there is nothing stopping that being our line-up (as it stands)

Todibo, AWB, Diouf, Álvarez probably lack minutes to play now
  • Not sure Alvarez or Todibo will play as they haven't been used in pre season. Be nice if they did though. I think it will be Kilman and JWP.

This appears to be the crux of the problem in my eyes. Some of the players in that line up played in the World Cup but their countries were knocked out before the latter stages so they could have been involved in the last friendly or two but weren't, so does that mean NES doesn't see them having a future with the club and they need replacing with some new signings because the options within the club aren't at the same level as them?

I imagine NES wants/expects them to move on, but that doesn’t mean they will & we can’t afford to have Edson Álvarez hanging around in September on £40,000 (or whatever a week) & not playing games

If Todibo, AWB, Álvarez, Füllkrug remain after the window shuts, they will be involved in the squad at some point

I mean, 3 years ago, JWP - Álvarez - Souček, with Bowen, Paquetá & Kudus up top, were lining up in Europa League KO games.

4 of those are still here & we’re in the league below.
  • And they're 4 years older.

    They're not old though
  • Got 2 assists as well ,Should never have let him go

Alvarez was at the World Cup so not playing in the pre-season is understandable.

Todibo missing the pre-season is an indication that Nuno doesn't want him
  • Do we think Veltman will be announced today?
  • I cannot understand the rush to get rid of Alvarez, often the Mexico captain, surely he can do a job for us in the Championship in defensive midfield or defence, if he could be persuaded to stay, and he would cost us nothing.
  • Alvarez has changed his shirt number from 17 to 4. 🤔

I saw a rumour going around social media (I know) that he has agreed to stay for the season

Remember, it was Potter who shipped him out, not Nuno

    Good news IMO, if true.
  • Agree, he is somewhat a liability with his rashness sometimes, but an experienced player who on his day can surely do a decent job in the championship…
Hope Veltman does sign, I think he would be a very decent addition to the squad and plenty of experience which is needed IMO 👍🏻⚒️
  • Alvarez staying would also be a good reason Potts was let go, as Alvarez for all his weaknesses is a superior player and a first name on the team sheet if both fit and committed

Alvarez, hopefully, would be able to commit some of the challenges that get micro managed in the Premier League with no punishment as it's a tougher league and the referees aren't as good.
