    It's more a wages thing, I doubt we'll be able to afford to keep him.

    Might not have a choice, seen rumours he has a relegation release clause which is sensible given he joined a team that was odds-on for the drop

    Yes it’s us, the fans who suffer if relegation happens, and yes most of the players/ agents will seek lucrative deals elsewhere.
    The real sufferers are the staff behind the scenes,the admin people, secretaries, the ticket office people and the junior coaches.It means they’ll be made redundant.

    Why won't they still be needed? I can imagine there will be some downsizing at worst, but the tasks they perform will still need to be done, won't they?

    Simple economics, the income will be reduced, via TV rights ( despite the parachute payment), ticket sales and the small matter of the club being £104 m in debt even before relegation.

    I just noticed this on Twitter, I don't know how accurate it is but a lot of fans do feel he is like an energetic conference player given a big chance. He runs and pressures but lacks all the basic abilities of a professional footballer. We saw it yesterday when he came on and couldn't control a basic throw in to him and they broke and scored.


    One day someone will investigate the signing of Pablo—with no last name—by West Ham.

    Gil Vicente signed him in the summer for €250,000 after he scored 10 goals in 13 matches. The goals came against Nacional, Moreirense, Braga, Estoril, Estrela, Alverca, Santa Clara, Rio Ave, and Arouca. Six months later, West Ham, already in relegation trouble, decided to splash out €23M on him.

    His agency is Gestifute, Mendes' agency, curiously the same as that of his manager at the Hammers, Nuno Espírito Santo. He hasn't scored a single goal for West Ham.

    A lot of those fans on Twitter were calling for Taty to be dropped for Wilson too. I also remember earlier in the season a lot of talk about how Fernandes was a waste of money.

    Pablo is a massive liability as soon as he’s in our own half but he has an impact further up the pitch. The fact that Nuno never really played him as a 9 shows he didn’t see goalscoring as his value.

    I’m annoyed at Nuno’s choices yesterday but I think there’s some real revisionism going on suddenly.

    Fernandes left out of Portugal squad for World Cup so guess that would give him encouragement to leave in the summer, not that he’ll need any more encouragement.

    He has only had one international appearance as a late sub in a friendly so I am not sure he would be entirely surprised to be left out.

    I don't get the big bids we are expecting for him, decent enough and great potential but were I a club who heard they were getting Bowen or Summerville I would be far more excited than hearing Fernandes were on huis way.

    He has looked good in our squad…. Not sure what that tells you about our squad 😉

    As a sidebar, I watched Burnley vs Arsenal the other day with a keen eye on JWP, I assume that we will be getting him back, he looked decent enough to me and I reckon could do a job for us in the Championship

    As horrible as our form is i dont think £100mil will be hard to find

    £40mil Fernandes and £30mil for Bowen, which i think those fees are modest, gets us £70m not including Summerville who'd probably fetch something similar. Then you expect Taty, AWB, Tobido, Areola, Diouf, Pablo would all find homes even if not for signicant fees

    I’d be looking to keep Taty and Pablo though. Reckon they’ll do well in the Championship (and probably a bit more of Pablo’s level anyway).

    I think Tatty would be electric in the Championship. Some players have something about them you love beyond their ability, Souceks personality and now Tatty's attitude to a match. He must come off exhausted as he acts like every run is a final minute cup final run.

    He would be a decent player for us if we stay up, but lower the grade of defender a little and he will be something else.

    Think the issue will be wages

    Not sure what theyre on abd the likelihood they have release clauses

    Would've been a hard sell for then to join us, so probably overpaid on their wages.

    If Taty has a release clause around what we paid, I think hes shown enough about him thay someone would go for him in a top league

    You would think that would be enough of an incentive to perform but that hasn't been the case in the last few games for some of them.
