Crystal Palace Vs West Ham - Mon 20th -8pm

Unlike last week we will be the last to play and will be hoping we are playing to gain points on our rivals rather than catch back up. I think the side will be unchanged for us, although it's very possible that Nuno brings back AWB.

Palace play on Thursday and so hopefully they will pick up some niggles but proceed to the next round of the conference so that they have lots to focus on other than the league.

It's getting nervy but I find myself very proud of the side each week at present.

  • Best 11 & this is all about bravery & mentality now. We have the 11 (finally), we have the form
(18 points from last 11 league games). Can we hold our nerve now we have got out of the bottom three (albeit we may be back in it come Monday).

Go for 3 points, nothing less. We have 3 tough games against European chasing Everton & Brentford next, plus Arsenal. Go for the 3 points, take the game to Palace & be brave.
  • Couple of palace players injured tonight .,You never like to see that but hope its just bad enough to keep them out of our game
  • I didn't see the match but I saw Mateta and Wharton were subbed, if those two were out it would certainly make things a bit easier!

Mateta was subbed at half time but that was probably planned.

He had 5 weeks off with a knee problem that scuppered his move to AC Milan in January, since then he's only started the two games against Fiorentina plus a couple of appearances off the bench in the league

Strand-Larsen has started the last seven Premier League games

What definitely wasn't planned was Wharton coming off after half an hour with a groin problem or Lacroix coming off just before half time with a knock to his knee

Wharton suffered a similar injury back in 2024 and was out for three months, he was replaced by Jefferson Lerma last night but Will Hughes is another option

Palace didn't replace Guehi in January, instead Glasner has switched between Chadi Riad and Jaydee Canvot in the back three alongside Lacroix and Richards without seeming to settle on either. If Lacroix is out then he'll have to start both with Nathaniel Clyne as back up

Other injuries: Evann Guessand (Villa, loan), Eddie Nketiah and Cheick Doucoure all out for the foreseeable

Brennan Johnson (£35m Spurs) was an unused sub

Otherwise not much has changed since September
  • All players available for Monday according to Nuno in his presser.
  • What a chance this is, with Palace effectively safe, focusing on their European campaign & coming off the back of a European away day hangover.

I know they can still beat us & have good players, but you could not really ask for a better set of circumstances to try & take 3 points.

Idk. I think chances would’ve improved further if the game was on Sunday instead of Monday night. Depending on how other games - particularly Spurs Brighton - goes this weekend there could be a lot of pressure on us. The extra day and a half of rest helps remove the Thursday night fatigue too.
  • 4 days between games v 10 days?
  • 4 days between games v 10 days?

    Are you asking a question?
  • alderz - " there could be a lot of pressure on us."

    There has been all season.
  • @alderz, No reporting a fact =) .
  • Maybe a few of the Palace players have sore heads still after their celebratory night out after their win in Europe.
  • Glasner on squad selection for Monday

"We will always see how the players are recovering. If players are still fatigued, it’s better to play ones who are fresh".

    No comments on injuries
  • @alderz, No reporting a fact =) .

Then why the question mark 😂
  • With a semi final to come & knowing he’s not there next season; Glasner is only going to want a trophy to add to his CV.

He’ll play the reserves if any players need even the slightest rest.
  • His judgement will be very questionable if he lets Wharton play before their semi final, it's a reoccurring niggle so It may not take too many minutes before the end of the season. He is the main one we need to miss the match.

A huge game this evening, as they all will be until the end of the season if we're to stay up, given the other results this weekend. A win, and there's daylight between us (and everyone else) and Spurs, and they really could start feeling the pressure; they'd definitely still be in the bottom 3 with just 4 games left even if they win next weekend. However, a draw or defeat tonight could give Spurs a chance to leapfrog us next Saturday when they visit Wolves whilst we entertain an Everton side that will probably still be smarting from a very late derby defeat yesterday.

3 points tonight would be massive.

He doesn't really have much in the way of reserves

    Fiorentina 16 Apr

    Henderson
    Richards Lacroix (Riad) Canvot
    Munoz Wharton (Lerma) Kamada Mitchell
    Sarr Mateta (Strand-Larsen) Pino (Hughes)

    Newcastle 12 Apr

    Henderson
    Richards Lacroix Canvot
Munoz Lerma Hughes (Wharton) Mitchell (Sosa)
Johnson (Sarr) Strand-Larsen (Matate) Pino (Kamada)

    Fiorentina 9 Apr

    Henderson
    Richards Lacroix Canvot
Munoz Wharton (Hughes) Kamada (Lerma) Mitchell
    Sarr Mateta (Johnson) Guessand (Pino)

Before that they had three weeks without a match

Only four substitutions per match, just 15 players used more than once
  • Don't forget there playing for there place in the semi final .So won't be easy
  • Looking at the Palace bench over the last three matches there's not a lot of options

    Senior players

GK Walter Benitez, 8 starts, 1 in the league
RB Nathaniel Clyne 11 appearances, 6 starts all in the league
LB Borna Sosa, 17 appearances, 9 starts but none in the league

    Academy graduates

    22yo AM/CM/RM Justin Devenny, 22, 29 appearances, 9 starts, 5 in the league
21yo DM Kaden Rodney, 3 appearances, just one in the league
19yo LB Rio Cardines, 2 appearances, yet to play in the league

Someone who's not been around is 22yo CF Christantus Uche, signed from Celta Vigo in the summer, 22 appearances, 3 starts and 3 goals but none in the league. Hasn't featured on the bench since he came on for the last 10 minutes of Palace’s win over Spurs back at the start of March

You can see why Glasner might be fed up with Palace's owners
  • No Wharton, Mateta and Sarr on the bench

    Henderson
    Richards Lacroix Canvot
    Munoz Lerma Hughes Mitchell (Sosa)
    Johnson Strand-Larsen Pino

Subs Benitez, Clyne, Sosa, Cardines, Riad, Kamada, Devenny Sarr, Mateta
  • Was hoping Lacroix would be missing
  • Walker peters still in ahead of AWB .What is going on there

I'm assuming it's a case of don't change the team if you win 4-0

I hope the 2nd half West Ham turn up early tonight.

Providing they don't have a 1st half performance in the 2nd half. ;)

Nah, if that happens I’d be worried 1st half West Ham might come out after half time

    Kin’ell

Down the Crown in Leytonstone and there’s a Hammer who has spent the last 20 minutes talking about Spurs

Did you ever drink in the Alma on Church Road Leytonstone back in the day? Was a West Ham pub back in the 70s and 80s, long closed now.
