  • For anyone who doesn’t want to click the link, essentially Forest, Leicester, Leeds and Southampton are planning to sue Everton. Everton posted a loss of £313m over a three year period in their most recent accounts, which is nearly triple the amount of losses the fair play rules allow.

It's not quite so clearcut as the bare figures suggest as certain allowances are being made due to Covid; however their losses do seem excessive although the club has said if will "robustly defend" (or something similar) its position of acting within the guidelines.
  • Does this Sue Everton work at a Golf Course? =) Shame it isn't a points deduction they are being threaten with but we haven't got the moral high ground on this type of thing have we?

Er, the Express article says "Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Burnley"

Except the Express has cut-and-paste their info from an article that appeared on the Daily Mail website yesterday and amusingly they've got it wrong

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12090845/Everton-face-sued-300m-Leeds-Leicester-Forest-Burnley-team-losses.html

The Mail lists "Leeds, Leicester, Nottingham Forest, Southampton and Burnley"

According to that Burnley are contending that they wouldn't have got relegated last season if Everton hadn't fiddled the books

What's the betting that the Express version was done by a 21yo unpaid intern who was writing the article, checking TicToc and WhatsApp while playing Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom all at the same time

    21?

Yeah, went to Uni then drifted into journalism because they couldn't get a job anywhere else with their BA in philosophy
