Seems like he's been having problems with his ex partner and is trying to secure custody of his daughter.

Enner has paid over alimony to his former wife as required
Gained custody of his daughter, with the intention of bringing her to the UK
Had the alimony payments stopped by court order in the process
Was ambushed with a bogus claim for alimony by his wife which some other court allowed, which is what was being served at the football game
Has paid more money to his wife to get her to clear orf.
Explains a lot ;wink
If the alternative is Calleri or Fletcher, then yes, imo.

Some interesting comparisons between how much clubs spent this season, where they are (currently) in their respective Leagues and whether (for this season, anyway) pounds buy prizes.
(Note, it doesn't take into account, obviously, how high or low the starting point was. And spend is presumably an estimate.)
