Unless we get 15 points in our remaining games i dont see it.

3 teams nothing to play for and safe. Swansea, Watford, West Brom.
Last home game ever and could be massive Man U.
Stoke who might be on their holidays going into the last game.

    15 points needed imo.
  • Mate no disrespect but you had Leicester winning comfortably

(Sorry had to remind you of that)

    ;biggrin
  • Although with a bit of luck we could have 6 points or more I did think our recent run of games Everton Chelsea Leicester away Arsenal CP home and it has been an OK return I felt if we could go into last 5 games with hope of top 6 which should ensure a EL place I do feel
watford swansea Man U home WBA Stoke away are all winnable I think 10 points should be enough but having said that we need to deliver anything but. Top 6 would be a disappointment ;angry

Who knows if they had kept 11 men.
  • We were the better side on the day.....

    19 shots to their 4
    More possession (red helped)
    5 corners to nil

We didn't get it that 'wrong' at all......they scored a breakaway goal which should've been pulled back for foul on Reid.....they also got a 1 in a 100 penalty.

we did the business against 10.

They weren't better than us, nor comfortable.

  • Liverpool have the best run in but have Europe league still to worry about

Us vs United & city vs Arsenal could be a big moment in the season

Arsenal have the hardest run in imo because Norwich mad.Sunderland have something to play for whereas the likes of southampton, Stoke etc while better are a bit in the "our season is over" frame of mind
  • I think City will beat Arsenal, which means I can't see City falling out of the top 4.

Arsenal have a game in hand (on us and utd) with Villa, Norwich and West Brom at home to come, can't see them falling out either.

So fight is for 5th imo.
  • Eski ;ok , Agree but I think 6th is more realistic those 14 draws have cost us an unbelievable league position this season , still a great season if we come 6th-7th
    imo.
  • I wouldn't put it past norwich sunderland and newcastle to take a point from one of those games. You look at relegation fighting for survival and top table teams to drop points. We have 3 mid table sides left if Stoke fall away in the next 2 who have nowt to play for and a direct rival for europe at home under the lights as last home game of the season.
  • City and Man U look catchable.

Arsenal have a fixture list to carry them to 3rd imo.

Liverpool could get 4th imo. I wouldnt be surprised if us and Liverpool took 4th and 5th.
  • Yes Mental and takes us up another level as a top team in with the big boys
who we have not been scared to play football home or away against .

This will take some beating if we can get near to this sort of form in our new home
next season , Slav has some big decisions to make on player recruitment in the summer I can see 2/3 going plus loan guys leaving which will free up some big wages exciting times , I can also see us making some signings very early on like we did last season we must get in there quick on the targets he wants before others come sniffing round. ;ok
  • only two games that we never looked like getting anything out of....

    Spurs and Watford away.
  • Could come down to goal difference. If we win our last 4 games including man u we will be on 68 points. If utd win their remaining games except against us they will be on 68 points. Of course if Liverpool win all theirs they will be on 69.
Its been a great season but expectations have grown with it such that we will be disappointed to end up 6th or 7th!
  • For what it's worth, I can see us finishing 7th.

    This is my prediction
    Liverpool:
3 home (Newcastle, Watford, Chelsea), 2 away (Swansea, West Brom) - 15points
    Total:69 points

    Us:
2 home (Swansea, Manure), 2 away (West Brom, Stoke) - 9 if we're lucky
    Total: 65 points

    Manure:
2 home (Leicester, Bournemouth), 2 away (Norwich, West Ham) - 9/10
    Total: 69 points

    Arsenal:
3 home (West Brom, Norwich, A. Villa), 2 away (Sunderland, Man City) -10/11
    Total: 70/71 points

    Man City:
2 home (Stoke, Arsenal), 2 away (Southampton, Swansea) - 8/9
    Total: 69/70 points
  • I honestly think we can get 10-12 points.

Last night showed great effort, created a bunch of chances, this squad has not given up and they're not going to let this season just fall away either.
  • ON another thread, Slaven_Cups_His_Beard said

    Talking of stats.......

19 red cards in Games we've been involved in.
New PL home record of 15 consecutive games undefeated.
Positive GD almost certain for the first time.
Highest Points total almost certain in the PL.
Beaten MCFC, AFC, LFC and EFC away in the same season, first time.
Nobody has done the double over us (first time since 2001 I think - top flight only).
First time we've had back to back pens scored since 2009.
First away pen for 5 1/2 years.
    3 Red cards rescinded.
More key decisions against then any other team.
2nd highest number of defensive errors leading to goals.
Carroll has more goals per minutes than Rooney.
Only lost 6 league games, record at this stage in the PL.
    Seven 2-2 draws.

    Any others?

What an absolutely mental season!! And it's not over yet!!
  • Add Maiga goal
  • 16 year old debutant
  • ;wahoo confirmation that we have tickets for the away game at Stoke has just arrived.

  • ;wahoo coyi
  • I've updated this following last night's result.

For what it's worth, I can see us finishing 7th.

    This is my prediction
    Liverpool:
3 home (Newcastle, Watford, Chelsea), 2 away (Swansea, West Brom) - 15points

    Us:
2 home (Swansea, Manure), 2 away (West Brom, Stoke) - 9 if we're lucky

    Manure:
2 home (Leicester, Bournemouth), 2 away (Norwich, West Ham) - 9/10
    Total: 69 points

    Arsenal:
2 home (Norwich, A. Villa), 2 away (Sunderland, Man City) -9/10
    Total: 72/73 points

    Man City:
2 home (Stoke, Arsenal), 2 away (Southampton, Swansea) - 8/9
    Total: 69/70 points
  • ;wahoo confirmation that we have tickets for the away game at Stoke has just arrived.

    Got mine too. ;wahoo
  • I think we will finish 6th. I can see the table staying as it is now.
  • I going for 5th we beat Man U
And dance all the way to tramway ave ;wahoo
  • 1 win = 8th place assuming we keep our GD quite high
2 wins = probably 7th place (assuming Man City beats Southampton)
    3 wins = guaranteed at least 7th
4 wins = guaranteed 6th but could be 5th place on goal difference

I can't really see us getting better than 5th.
  • 6th is ours to lose and 5th is ours to win given we got to play united
