    Lukerz

I think most transfer rumours are media generated and driven - they have to fill space somehow - and are often totally bogus.

At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if some of it wasn't driven by clubs (sellers and buyers) using tame journos to test the waters and see what reaction they get.

In Payet's case, I really can't see any club wanting to go over £40m for him, probably closer to £30m, so the club are at least making the right noises by putting the valuation the other side of silly money.
  • Yeah, it's the press generating stories where non exists.

    Imagine!?
  • Guarantee that the clubs are involved in it. The press know it's not really a story but they have a source so they'll run it. It's just a less important version of what governments and intelligence agencies do to us. They pick up the phone, tell us something and then tell us not to name them.
  • Payet: I love the Hammers, can't wait for the new stadium and am 100% staying at West Ham

Looks like I may owe Izzy some CMUs.
  • what on earth posesses Sully to say this ???
"...There might be six weeks of silliness when he bangs the table, but..."
what a complete idiot that man is. Make him deputy to Boris in our wonderful brave new Brexitland..
  • I am very grateful for what the chairmen have done and continue to do for this club, but yeah, Sully really has no tact or, it seems, much common sense.

I think I know what he was getting at but it does make Payet sound like a petulant child which I'm sure wasn't his intention, but he really is like that drunk uncle at a wedding sometimes.
  • Timed nicely with the Bacca negotiations, though? ;hmm
  • No. He is describing a potential scenario, one which he has probably witnessed before.

I don't get people jumping all over him and expecting him to change. He has become a multi millionaire by doing it his way. Who are we to argue?

I don't think anyone expects him to change, but I for one would prefer it if he displayed a little more tact and self-control when talking to the media
  • Dimi is a hammer ;biggrin

Just waiting for the Canadian court to get underway.

  • You is in big trouble son ;biggrin
  • I can sense the ;biggrin ;whistle and ;wink smileys already...
  • I may have to double the smileys order this week...
  • Apparently Dimi's agent has said the sun have completely made up these quotes...
  • Shocking
  • I will be distraught if this turns out to be false... ;weep
  • Thought it was too good to be true.

    Maybe no CMUs required.
  • Too late son ;biggrin
  • Cancel the smiley order Grey
  • There must be more to it than this. Even The Sun wouldn't sit there and make quotes up, as obviously there's no way they could ever get away with it.

Maybe they didn't check their sources properly and used quotes via a third party? Or maybe the agent is trying to backtrack?
  • Calm yourselves.

    Dimi is a hammer.

    Message ends.
  • Since when did anyone start believing what was written in the sun? No disrespect to sun readers, it's a red top newspaper, and that's all.
  • This whole rebuttal situation stinks of an agent who has sensed the biggest fee of his career slipping away to me, Dimi stating categorically that he is staying probably prevents any bid being made by anyone so the agent muddies the waters hoping that if a bid comes in there is a chance, no matter how small, that we may accept and he can buy a yacht.

For what it's worth I believe the words attributed to Dimi, he's staying ;pray

Apparently it wasn't an official interview. Dimi was asked at a service station and that was his response which the journalist wrote down and then produced an article.

Not sure who this guy claiming to be his agent is? Dimi is with an agency group who appear to have no ties with him.
  • If that's true Lukerz then it seems even more likely that he's staying and the agency are just managing the PR side of things to protect their business interests.

Anyway thanks for the info ;clap I absolutely can't stand the thought of the most exciting player I've seen for a long time, maybe ever, in our shirt leaving
  • It's all a bit murky
  • was he banging the table, Sully?
