World Cup Predictor Game - Round 1 - Thursday 11 June

So here we are again, but at least this summer we have some half cocked amateur football going on, so why not have a predictor thingummy going on.

First games are 11th June.

Different rules for this competition.

Anyone can join in at any stage, and can nominate two joker teams, which will be explained later. The joker teams can only be nominated once with your first predictions.

All scores are the 90 minutes scores.

Predict the correct score for a game and get 2 points.

Goal difference will be the total number of goals scored in that match.

If you predict the correct result but the wrong score you get 1 point, but no goal difference will be added.

Any points earned involving one of the joker teams will be doubled.

Fairly easy ......... I think.

The games for round 1 are …

Mexico v South Africa, 0-0
South Korea v Czech Republic, 0-0
Canada v Bosnia-Herzegovina, 0-0
Qatar v Switzerland, 0-0
Brazil v Morocco, 0-0
United States v Paraguay, 0-0
Haiti v Scotland, 0-0
Australia v Turkey, 0-0
Germany v Curaçao, 0-0
Netherlands v Japan, 0-0

  • DJ, the joker teams can be any country playing, not just those shown in the first set of games.
  • So you can only nominate two of these 20 teams as jokers, not any of the other 20 teams not included in this round?

Buffy, NO, as I said in the rules, perhaps not too clearly, you only get to nominate your joker teams once throughout the competition, hence why I have gone for France and Spain.

OK, sorry, I mis-understood, or, more to the point, I missed that you had selected teams not in this first round of matches.

That’s fine Ex, I’m happy enough with my selection. (Inside info, wink, wink)
  • I may not be able to predict every round, but I don't think that matters in this competition. We're in the middle of Gawai celebrations here, and I'm in no fit state to predict what day it will be tomorrow!

  • An interesting extra joker would be how many hours overall will be lost to lightening being within 8 miles of the stadium. Each strike starts a 30 minute countdown. Already a warm up game today was interrupted for 2 hours.
