  • Great deserved win but a disappointing goal to concede. Todiba was caught somewhere on the left wing and Mavropanos left with three (must check) Sunderland attackers. I am sure NES would want to have a good look and curb this kind of marauding. Pablo is still finding his feet, Summerville was electric and Fernandes was nonstop. More of this please.
  • A new Centre Half might help us keep a clean sheet?

From a structure point of view, the goal was poor given we were 3-0 up with 25 mins left. We seemed out of shape for some reason & they got in behind easily.
  • Great result and 1st half performance, some very good performances all over the pitch...
What was going on with Xhaka ?
  • According to the Beeb, he was having a bit of argy bargy with a WH supporter nearby.
  • Classic Xhaka, why bother responding? Just ignore the fan &, if appropriate, report it to be followed up. Pro footballer on thousands a week can’t show the temperament to deal with it.
  • Thanks...Glad he didn't play today though, he's been a great buy for them IMO, a leader, something we've missed....
  • Soucek pushed into their keeper, and it's given as a foul.

    That’s what I thought

Pablo is still finding his feet,

He's found them, unfortunately they both seem to be left. =)
  • As each game goes by it makes me more miffed about our luck in the Forest game. Any result other than the one we got would have had us above them now either by 1 or 4 points.

    Steinberg's report in the Guardian.

Summerville leapt like Andy Carroll 😂
  • Good game to be dragged to the pub to watch. First half absolute control, second half Sunderland made it a 50/50 game. Disappointed in no clean sheet, but the front guys at least they put the hard yards in something this team has needed for a decade (that wasn't Antonio)
  • Just left the airport and checked in, WOW, but I'm sure we only won because I didn't record it before we left home

I've done my bit to secure the win 😁😁😁

I do hope our "Dark Christmas" isn't going to result in our relegation! It wasn't just the one point from 12 available but who we lost to that is so painful.

I noticed Pableo did it again today, in that he got handsy with a player moving away from him and gave away another softest free kick imaginable. He reaches out to them with a hand, not enough to stop them but ensures a free kick is given, It's a professional foul but the most idiotic one as he does it when the player is no threat, unlike a real professional foul, like a reflext action as though his brain doesn't know the rules and reaches out. Luckily today it was just outside their own area, but he did it at Forest for the free kick from which they scored. I would have thought we'd have got a draw had he not done that. I hope someone has a word with him, it's an expensive habit that could resurface again and again.
  • Is the Positive Arms opening early tonight?

    It never closes.

One thing can be concluded I feel, and that is that we won't particular miss Paqueta. He has missed two of our best performances of the season. He takes a shirt and whilst it's true he can do things most of our players can't, allowing him the shirt in the hope he does such things was getting expensive. We look more balanced now.
  • Yes I feel we have far fewer unforced errors in random areas of the pitch
  • 16 points off a Champions’ League place.
  • With Fernandes in the team we definitely don't need Paqueta, and a big plus is he's only 21. Unfortunately, it's unlikely he'd stay if we go down. It's also possible that even if we stay up he'll attract the attention of one of the big 6.
Regarding Paqueta, I think it would be better to cash in on him even though Flamengo's offer is less than our valuation and use the money to get that elusive CB during this transfer window.
  • Yes. Paqueta should be let go.

He is a liability, especially if we are in a dog fight until the end of the season
  • Fernandes was great & has been very good of late but let’s see him keep doing each week for the rest of the season, away at Chelsea next would be nice
  • The only argument I’ve seen for keeping Paqueta was the idea that if he can go because he doesn’t fancy it does that spread to other players - like we’ve seen at Palace almost. But given how much better we’ve been without him, I think the players can be convinced it’s a good thing.
  • Nottm Forest won 2-0 at Brentford today (Sunday). So, the gap to safety is back to five points. Leeds could be dragged into it if they lose to Everton on Monday. Leeds play Forest on 6th February which could have a bearing on where we go. Just need to keep winning our games. Our last last game of the season is against Leeds at home ... just saying.
  • It's not over whilst we are playing as we are.
  • It bugs me that our Forest game could have made such a difference without taking into account the mess we made of the other three “winnable” games.

I think Leeds are 'in it' along with Forest, Spurs and Palace.
  • Palace could really fall into it ,However we have to win games starting at Chelsea ,A win there would set the cat amongst the pigeons
  • We're not going to win 15 games. Anything gained at Chelsea is a bonus.
  • It is still only January - Chelsea isn’t a must anything.

We probably need 6/15 wins to be in the mix come May.
