Just what we needed 😭.
How long will he be out with a broken foot?

How long will he be out with a broken foot?

Depending on which bone it could be anything from 4 to 12 weeks to fully heal, and then he has to get up to full fitness again. Not good.
  • Time for others to step up

We have attacking players in our squad in Kudus/Paqueta who werent long ago being linked for moves as much as £85mil, also the Germany #9 and the Championship player of the year

Time for then to pull their finger out and show us what they got
  • Kudus will play on the right again now, I guess. Though who knows with Lopetigui. We’ll probably see him on the left and Kilman at right wing at some point.

A lot is going to rely on Kudus showing that he can do what he did in that position last season and Fullkrug is going to have to step up or we need another striker.
  • Not great news, I think we’ll have to at least get a striker on loan in Jan. The jury is still out on the German bloke and poor old ( £100 k a week) Danny it seems needs to play in a two.
  • This will possibly push J Lo to prove if he has what it takes or not....I hope he does, even though I don't agree he's right for us....
  • It certainly makes me less confident we wont end up in a relegation scrap if this is months rather than weeks.

So Kudus now gets to play in his natural position, massive pressure on Füllkrug to start delivering meaningful contributions in games. Summerville will also benefit from this, I imagine. Souček probably given the armband (although Fabiański is vice captain, I think?).

    Fabiański
    Wan-Bissaka - Todibo - Kilman - Emerson
    Souček - Álvarez - Soler
    Kudus - Füllkrug - Summerville

Areola, Mavropanos, Coufal, Cresswell, Rodríguez, Irving, Paquetá, Guilherme, Ings

Huge blow & don’t predict us getting too many points between now & March. Not sure there is much in the budget to bring in any signings.
  • Happy new year to you to Lukerz =) =)

I'm sure there's not much there, but I find it inconceivable that we won't bring in a CF (even if it's only on loan) given that we've lost Antonio probably for the season and Bowen for likely 2-4 months. That leaves us with just a not yet fit Füllkrug and a not really suitable Ings who was brought in in kinda similar circumstances 2 years ago; let's hope we get someone more suitable (or shorter term) this time around.

  • We can probably get by against City as we’d lose with or without Bowen. We can then get by against Villa as it’s the cup & no league points at play. But he will be a huge loss in the home games to Fulham & Palace.
  • I'm sitting here trying to understand how we spent big during the summer and bought in something like nine new players but somehow seem to have ended up with a weaker squad than we started with. I'm confused.

I think our squad ‘trimming’ was efficient in the summer, but not finished. I’d say we need at least one more summer window to finish off.

All I would say, a one-legged Zouma is a far better defender than our current crop of CBs, which is where one of our biggest failings was in the summer.

Another failing was neglecting to properly strengthen the midfield; which is not improved at all. We’ve replaced Ward-Prowse & Kalvin Philips with Carlos Soler & Guido Rodríguez (neither cost a transfer fee). We have the same LBs, same keepers, one new RB, one new winger. That’s it.

The final issue is that the new striker we signed has been injured, & now that he is finally fit we have no depth in that position because of a freak accident.
  • Good to see Bowen back on the treadmill yesterday. Encouraging.

Any chance of a link please?
  • Cheers, many thanks for that (I don't do Twitter). It is an anti-gravity treadmill, but certainly good to see nonetheless 👍.
