  • I can get over not scoring enough tonight.

But not letting in 3 against one of the poorest teams in the League.
  • Disgraceful to have 31 attempts, 10 of which are on target and lose 3-1. If Arsenal or Liverpool had had 31 attempts against Leicester they would have hit double figures.
We’ve got 15 points but I think of those at least 4 we didn’t deserve so our position could easily have been much worse which if we keep on like this it won’t be long before it is.
  • Even if we changed the manager, they won’t wave a magic wand & then this mess into a cohesive unit overnight. Too many players not good enough; Mavropanos, Alvarez, Ings, Summerville, Paqueta, Coufal.

There isn’t enough signs of noticeable improvement. I never expected it to click instantly, but we’re now nearly halfway through the season & there is no momentum or development. 2-0 win against Newcastle, then 5-2 and 3-1 losses. There is no cohesion or improvement in anything we are doing. Yes lots of the ball tonight and a few shots, a little unlucky not to get more than one goal, but we are so flimsy & so bad at the back it makes that all irrelevant.

    100% correct.

    Summerville is good enough.
  • Not in my view. Not seen enough from him. Lightweight & not a lot of end product.
  • What sums it up for me; we conceded five in the first half 3 days ago, 4 within 40 minutes. You’d expect a reaction from all. 90 seconds in & we’re 1-0 down. It’s so poor.
  • Summerville is lightweight IMO I’ve said this a few times …J Lo is NOT the right manager for WHIUFC, said this many times…. Was REALLY hoping I was/ am wrong… BUT IMO it’s just a matter of time …..
Shocking to lose 3-1 to that lot ….😭😭😭
  • I like Summerville, though i liked Benrahma too but its basically the same player imo. We shifted Benrahma out and got the same player in basically.

All our defenders are so flat footed, Kilman gets turned way too easily and Mavroponas is 2 seconds behind the play in general.

We out played Leicester for large parts of the game but never looked like scoring really.

I will be mightily surprised if Lopetegui survives beyond Christmas.
  • A lot of people wondering about Lopetguis position but the real question tonight should be how is Eddie Howe still in a job?

We were the best team and if you took all the goals out and showed the match to anyone and said guess the scoreline everyone would have given it comfortably to us. Sadly the defence is very poor, we put a lot of money into Kilman and Tobido and it's not looking well spent at present. It is too early to condemn it but it's not looking good. I know Tobido wasn't playing today but he has not been a strengthening force when he has, Mavro has been a liability since he came and is just not Premier league standard. As we have an abundance of midfielders I would probably give Alveraz a god at centre back rather than Mavro, he has played there before and is just a better footballer.

On the plus side we are definitely looking much much better going forward but it needs converting into goals or it counts for nothing. I do think we could have had a whole different score had the goal stood! Soucek did nowhere near enough for that to be a foul and if that is a foul then every corner should result in a free kick. Poor refereeing once again and an frightened VAR to intervene and correct the ref.
  • The decision to sub Soler and Soucek just didn’t make any sense. Soler was our best player and Souvek looked like the only player likely to score. JL has still not shown a game plan, there is little passion being shown and some of the football is just plain farcical.
    JL out!
  • If I wake up here in Canada and J.L is still there I won't be happy ..can't fire the players so j.L has to go
  • Very weird game that, on another night it could’ve ended up 5-3 to us. Still , the record books show it as a bad defeat.
    Football is nuts sometimes.

I think even if we had won 5-3 I’d be feeling pretty negatively about our defending, tbh, but you are right. We had more than enough of the game to win it. The problem is if you concede three, you put a lot of pressure on the attack to bail you out.
  • Playing expansive football that is pleasing on the eye is likely to generate results like that imo. Leaves us vulnerable to quick opposition attacks. Leicester took full advantage.
  • Lopetigui stating the blindingly obvious as usual on the OS but a more levelled and more honest assessment of yesterday came from Fullkrug.
  • Game after game our RB is caught upfield and the opposition comes marauding down that flank. Midfield isn't agile enough to cover and we play high line. The same again last night. I can't understand why we didn't play the tactics used against Newcastle.

Lopetegui trying to play like Liverpool and Arsenal when we don't have the same calibre of players. J Lo has now had 14 EPL games, 2 league cup games and five friendlies to get this tactics and team selection right. He has failed. Players must be demoralised and feel the pressure. He time has run out and we are running out of games. Need to change the manager now.
  • We might have had 31 shots but because we are just so laboured in our attack they came after Leicester had already organised their defence so we were just shooting into bodies, albeit with a few exceptions.
Also we don't have the players who are savvy enough or pacy enough (except for AWB) to play the high line that JL wants and the 4-1-4-1 system is useless as far as I'm concerned as it leaves too much space between midfield and defence.
What Lukerz said about there being no cohesion or improvement in anything we do is absolutely the problem.
  • So the we only lose badly to sides in the top half of the table didn't last long did it? Last night was so disappointing & can't be written off as just a bad game. J Lo picked the wrong line up and we suffered which I had hoped being the new "West Ham" would be in the past. This belief that it is alright because we are not in a relegation struggle isn't where I set my expectations. Mediocrity isn't something to be proud of.

A review of the fixtures shows only one game where we won against the odds & that was @ Newcastle. Matches where we should have been expected to pick up more points Everton (who can't score) so I don't count a clean sheet there as any kind of achievement & Leicester obviously. We were very fortunate v Manchester United and could have lost to Fulham. Is this to be yet another season where we stay away from the drop zone by setting our stall out to beat the teams below us, well it didn't go well yesterday evening did it? There is far too much talent in our squad to be losing games as we have done so far this season. We need to have someone at the helm to bring out the better performances, is J Lo that manager? Before we hear the "he needs time to make things work" comments I give you Brighton who are fourth with yes a new man in charge and after spending a lot less money in the summer.

I also think the problem isn’t necessarily who’s on the left wing but that they rarely have anyone to feed in the middle. Bowen and Kudus on the right are just much better players and also keen to score themselves. And even Kudus looks nowhere near the same playing on the left where it’s harder for him to get into scoring positions. It’s easy to look lightweight and indecisive when there’s no one giving you a good option.
  • @OutcastLondoner, A bit like playing Danny Ings on his own without a striker along side him which would bring the best out of him as has happened at his previous clubs where he has proven to be a good striker.
  • Didn’t notice it last night but just been reading how the West Ham fans started chanting about Rebecca Vardy as the game kicked off but stopped less than 2 minutes later.
  • Didn’t notice it last night but just been reading how the West Ham fans started chanting about Rebecca Vardy as the game kicked off but stopped less than 2 minutes later.

    And then started again.
  • I keep reading that we were lucky to beat ManU and Palace and draw with Fulham. By that same token then we were unlucky not to win last night, but it doesn't get mentioned.
  • @IronHerb, If J Lo had picked a different line up we might have won but we didn’t 👍. In the Manchester United game we got a dodgy penalty & at Fulham they should have been given a clear penalty not just IMHO.

But we also had one cleared off the line, one disallowed, hit the post, and had plenty of other scrambled chances. You could say Fulham "should" have had a penalty, but perhaps we "should" have taken more chances yesterday. I think Herb's right and it goes both ways.
  • IMO most our points have been somewhat fortunate...Man U, Palace, Fulham, very fortunate, performances have in general been bad, I say it how I see it.....But hey, let's hope by the weekend J Lo is out the building....
  • Not sure why it would take that long .just get it done
  • @IronHerb, If J Lo had picked a different line up we might have won

    Magical thinking.

We might have lost by more.
We might not have scored at all.
We might not have had as many shots...

    etc

If the first goal hadn't been ruled out (dodgily!) the game might have played out differently.

You can't build a convincing argument on magical thinking. Or on cherry-picking what's 'lucky' and 'unlucky'.
  • I agree MrsG & that works both ways with the people who believe that there is no reason for us to be disappointed with the way the season has gone so far.
