A player, substitute or substituted player who commits any of the following offences is sent off: denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (except a goalkeeper within their penalty area)"
No mention of what happens if the opposition score from the rebound :hmm:
But for me, TAA denied the initial first goal-scoring opportunity so should have been sent off regardless.
The ref could have blown for a pen and sent him off, providing he saw it as a pen, which these days?????? but he cant award the goal and then send him off.
If the ref wants to penalize the handball, he had to effectively ignore everything that happens after the offence. He can't ignore the offence, allow the goal, and then go back and punish an offence that happened in the build up.
Or if he allows the goal then realised there was an offence earlier, he can go back to the offence, but then the goal can't stand.
"If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution / send off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution / send off must be issued when the ball is next out of play, except for the denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity when the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour."
So a booking then.
Which didn't happen either.
Still, Rondon has just equalised so I care a bit less about the handball now.

An excellent advert for the women’s game.
Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Liverpool get the rub of the green again. Alexander-Arnold gets away with a deliberate handball on the line and then assists their second goal.
But I know what you mean.
I'd have thought deliberate handball denying a goal-scoring opportunity would be enough for a red, irrespective of whether Newcastle scored.
Not sure of the ruling. BRB :run:

Oooo Newcastle have equalised :wahoo:

Edit: He's been stretchered off, Origi on.
He got clattered as the keeper came out to punch the ball, but then seemed to bang his head as he went down.
Oh dear.
Hope City dont bottle it
