Not really bothered but if that was the case, why not start him and take him off after 30 mins, I am a little more cynical and feel it had something to do with the opportunity to secure appearance and scoring bonuses.
But I have not had my coffee this morning and woke up with a case of the grumps
You can't start a player if you aren't prepared to keep them on all game, though. If you get a couple of unforseen injuries, what do you do then? More sensible to see how the game goes and if you have the flexibility at the end to put the player on (whether it's a yoof, someone coming back from injury, or a cameo) then you do.

Colin has complained about the length of time it took to get an inured Gills player off on a stretcher and said his players "would not have scored in a million years".
Apparently one of our kids (Neufville) has just joined Newport on loan. He's playing in the FA cup game against Leicester tonight. Good luck to him! coyi
Most interesting thing for me in the Leicester game is where had it been a PL game they’d be rolling around after a foul or tackle, here they are just getting up and getting on with it.

Now I'm speculating that maybe they don't have enough fully-trained referrees to staff the video-room.

Fabregas stops in his run up - indirect free kick and yellow for Fabregas
Or
That several Chelsea players encroached - indirect free kick to Forest
Or
That several Forest players had encroached - retaken penalty
Or
That the keeper moved early - retaken pen and yellow for keeper:
Not the corner the ref in fact awarded.
Suspect he's not going to get a good review...
