  • His Mum spoke up for him after the scandalous allegations surfaced... She emotionally screamed "my Kamara never lies anymore" ;run

  • Who's up for a bit of Higuain at 9.5M?

For a change, I have the money. It'd be a replacement for Firmino though ;hmm ;puzzled

Although Firmino has scored well in recent weeks, he's not playing in the same advanced role as last season. I like him and I've had him in my team since he came from Germany. He's got vision/skill to get goals and assists (unlike Mane who is so selfish not passing to my fantasy players!) but I am not sure he'll maintain recent points in that role (prior to that he scored poorly for ages).

I have a week to think about it (or alter plans when someone gets injured in the cup or training)
  • in the time I wrote that another 1000 people TF'd him in - up to 20K+ now
  • I'm not considering him just yet. I want to see how he settles.
  • A day passes and I am tinkering without actually clicking 'make transfers' Not sure if I can hold out

#Trying to Higuain an advantage.... ;hmm ;wink
  • So do I buy Arnie back for my teams ;hmm
  • I'm not considering him just yet. I want to see how he settles.

    ;wink

  • exactly, but maybe getting in before the price hike ;lol

I have Rashford in my FF team, valued at 7.2 if I sell, but he's 7.7 to buy ;puzzled
  • One year I'm going to get to grips with the price stuff, and how to increase the value of your squad.

  • Where's Baz when you need him
  • I sold Arnie from my cheap team. ztydpically he's being awkward by staying! ;wahoo

Mrs Grey.... Your caution in the TF market stunts the value of the team/squad

Players, who are frequent wheeler/dealer types like myself, tend to gain a more valuable squad because....

Anticipation of player popularity and signing before their prices rise.

e.g. in my squad Doherty is a good example. Bought him in at 4.4M and his value is now 5.2M. I dont get all the 0.8M increase.... When a player goes up by 0.2, you get a 0.1 increase. Basically 50% of increases.

So Doherty is valued in my squad at 4.8M because I've gained 50% of his 0.8M rise

Consequently, if you hold on to a player like Richarlison who's value is currently going down by the week, plus you actually brought him in near the peak of his value (as opposed to say 6.5M) your squad value will go down.

E.g. someone theoretically brought in Richarlison @ 6.9M and now hes at 6.7M they've lost that 0.2M (if you have gained value in a player, the value will go down at the same 50% as your 50% increases had done. However, if you bought him at the same price as his value when he drops in price, you will go down from 6.9 to 6.8 to 6.7 etc as he does rather than in those 50% increments. Still with me?)

Whereas I had him from the start @ 6.5M. He peaked at 7.1M which meant I gained 0.3M to spend and 0.6M in my squad value. Now he's moved down 0.4M to 6.7M I've lost 0.2M of the 0.4M I gained. So perhaps (unless he starts scoring and subsequently gains popularity as he's a decent price still) I should consider selling him before he falls more (unless I believe he will rise again regaining some form). At the moment though I've been patient with him and there arent a lot of players in that price range who have the same potential or GW difficulty (someone like Fraser who is a good point scorer but has bad fixtures)

Someone like Jota @ 5.9M is a good potential riser. He's found form (after losing value at the start of the season when he was owned by a fair few people). I think he will go up to 6M this week and if he has another good GW then a lot of people will jump on the bandwagon (as they have with Pogba and Rashford as their prices have subsequently rocketed). If you have brought Pogba and/or Rashford early in their rise you'll see how much your squad value has risen from GW to GW recently. So I could theoretically bring him in for Richarlison before he rises in value and richarlison falls. "I'll gain value perhaps and a form player for 0.8 less"

Looking at my recent TFs in GW 20, 21 and 22....

I made one TF in GW 20 and lost value in my squad... Why? I Tfd Martial out for Andersen. I lost value because I originally brought in Martial just before he started to rise in price and popularity. He did really well for me and I gained a bit of value from him. However, I sold him for an Anderson at basically the peak of his price before his form subsided. He's gone from 7.4M to 7.3M this week (from memory I probably bought him at 7.3M). So I lost a chunk of my gain on Martial to bring in Andersen who subsequently hasnt progressed.

In GW21 I used my wildcard which gained 0.1 value for the same type of thing e.g bringing in Kane at peak value maybe losing some on a player, maybe a player rose in price by 0.1 that week etc.

In GW22 I rose by 0.6M in squad value. That was a case of Salah, Rashford, Pogba and Digne price rises perhaps gaining me X amount plus Andersen and Richarlison price falls perhaps losing me X amount....

Ohhh and in answer to your question 'wheres Baz when you need him'... The same place he is when you dont need him! Ummm here ;nonono
  • In the last long message my laptop bounced the cursor to another place before I could reread (after posting doh!). Could one of the admins got to paragraph 9 and alter the following:

"I'll0.8 less gain value perhaps and a form player for 0.8 less"

to "I'll gain value perhaps and a form player for 0.8 less"

    thanks :)
  • So Higuain...

    did he go in?

    ;yercoat
  • Cheap team;
Nasri, injured. Digne, benched. Camarasa not even in the squad ;doh

    Main team:
Digne benched, Bernardo Silva benched, Wilson prob injured ;doh

    They hate me ;weep

  • Oh good, Digne on.
  • Oh bad, Digne sent off. straight red.

    Lol
  • I had the same thought re Digne as I knew TAA wouldnt play tomorrow and I didnt want pereira slotted in from sub to face Liverpool. Now though, he probably couldnt do much worse than -2! Thats twice hes left me with a minus score recently ;hmm

I decided against Higuain purely because Chelsea have no GW in 27 so I exercised a bit of restraint (Firmino to be sent off as Higuain starts off with a brace?)
  • I take Arnie out and think its a good early call as he'll be China bound

I bring Arnie back full of forgiveness and hope.

Just like my dreams his big booted foot seems to have faded and died

Does he think I have unlimited TFs!

Anyway, always look on the bright side. Citeh lost and LIV VER POOL! LIV VER POOL! are going to win the title!;wahoo (City can take comfort in winning the champs league)

    #total kiss of death
  • Triple Captain on Salah time for Monday unfortunately. Its going to be a bloodbath...
  • I had the same thought re Digne as I knew TAA wouldnt play tomorrow and I didnt want pereira slotted in from sub to face Liverpool. Now though, he probably couldnt do much worse than -2! Thats twice hes left me with a minus score recently ;hmm

And he'll therefore blank in the next 3 GWs (and no double GW for him next week).

    Bad -> Worse
  • I think he only misses 1 game and is back in time for another minus against an irritated Man City ;lol
  • ;doh I transferred him out in a fit of pique last night.

Hes got some tough games coming up. The only reason I havent TFd him out is because I've looked at defenders around his price and below and really dont fancy anyone (I have a 2 defender shortlist that means 1 TF or another 2 that would require 2 TFs to accommodate). Will make a decision at the end of the week
  • I'm looking at Peirera (sp) once his run of difficult games is over ;ok
  • I'm still stuck with Joe flippin' Hart as my 2nd GK ;doh

My squad was in such a mess, it's taken me 2 transfers a week for 4 weeks just to clear our more urgent deadwood.....
  • I already have pereira so thats not helping me ;hmm Its too close to his good fix for me to get rid and bring back (although I may have if Digne didnt get the red card)

I'll cope if TAA is actually back next GW or the one after.

My choice wouldve been Lovren but I already have 3 Liverpool players. That said, with Matip back and Gomez nearing fitness he'd probably be on a rotation.

The next was Holebas but that was very short term ( their fix are tricky and they tend to be very unpredictable)

There isnt one player in the price range who I fancy. Above it, the obvious suspects have something wrong with fix or potential rotation that makes me wary. ;puzzled

That's what less frugal people (and those who arent saving it for double GWs) use a wildcard for. ;whistle

Your squads not far off being fine now. You have just enough money to bring in Ederson for Hart and have two games out of him. Or Heaton is a cheaper choice ;hmm

I never invest much in the GK - I'm keeping some of my spare funds to give me flexibility in MF. GK, prob. Ryan now that he's back from the Asian cup. ;hmm I need to check out if he will rotate well with Fab (who I hope isn't injured).

    Defenders - Kolasinac?
  • edited January 2019
Brighton have reasonable fix for the next chunk of games (better than ours). So I guess you could even replace Fab with Ryan and pocket a little profit.

Cant touch Kolasinac (although hes a decent call and no worse than Holebas or Tarkowski who I pondered over) til after the Man City game. Even then, with Koscienly, Bellerin and Socratis injured (plus Arsenals defence rarely gets a clean sheet) its like buying a defender and hoping they get a goal or assist to make up for that lack of clean sheet. Three of his next six are against top six sides and I rate Bournemouth to score against them too (probably Southampton as theyve upturned). So a clean a clean sheet vs Huddersfield and hopes for assists

If forced to go for an Arsenal defender I'd probably pick Monreal as he does seem to score a few and should be fresh after a decent lay off
