Crikey, is the Chelski gravy train coming off the rails?

edited May 31 in Miscellaneous
Apparently Abramovich has today pulled the plug on the new £1bn stadium after failing to acquire a visa to work in the UK.
Could it be the end of an era at Chelsea.

  • It's all going to end badly, I tell ye! Как жаль ;biggrin
  • Maybe he's going to give all "his" money back to the Russian people.
  • I think that might be a tad unlikely.
  • I thought he was considering taking out Israeli citizenship.
  • #OnTheRun ;wahoo
  • He has already, I think, herb.
  • Just seen Gian Hammer's profile pic - I have a guitar looking just like that on my wall ;wink
  • Bad news for Chelsea, good news for Maccabi Tel Aviv?

  • So Roman has announced that he is taking his ball and his £1 billion and is going home, wherever that now is.

I am sure that this is all just a terrible misunderstanding and that he will be welcomed back before a Foreign Office spokesman can say "A huge investment in UK infrastructure projects with associated job creation".
  • I believe he has recently purchased a property and some business assets in the Channel Islands. Come on you St. Helier ;biggrin

  • He should have given his heart and all that dosh to Aston Villa. He'd have been a knight of the Garter by now never mind citizenship.
  • I read that the club owes him close to a billion pounds. Would be hard to find investors taking on that.
  • It could be a beautiful summer, picture this.

Roman takes his rubbles to Israel and Stanford Bridge starts falling down again while being hugely in Debt...

Poch and Kane leave to Madrid, their new stadium which is over budget adds to their downward slide.

West Ham rise from the ashes having signed an actual DM and an RB and finish 9....well come on reality and all that..

  • Maybe the problem with the visa is to do with the fact that the process requires the applicant to be interviewed.

And this applicant supposedly doesn’t do interviews?
  • Just seen stories about Avram Grant and the Chelsea manager position should Conte leave.
Unlikely but cheered me up somewhat ;ok

Interesting article in the latest Private Eye about Abramovich, he was denied residency in Switzerland last year which raised a few eyebrows at the time as the Swiss are normally quite open to anyone with enough dosh.

Another of Putin's mates has been denied a visa by the USA so it looks like being Russian and rich doesn't open the doors quite the way it used to.

I believe he has recently purchased a property and some business assets in the Channel Islands. Come on you St. Helier ;biggrin

Jersey offered him residency but he hasn't taken it up yet
