    We offered virtually nothing, Liverpool, after scoring just sat back, but we really didn't give them anything to worry about apart from Bowen's effort, which he probably should have at least got on target...

    Of course it had to be us to give, or rather hand Liverpool their win again, they sadly deserved it...

    Paqueta, he just couldn't control himself, like a little spoilt brat, but like said already, Bowen should have stepped in and tried his best to control him, but hey, I doubt it would have mattered....

    Shame we couldn't get at least a point for Billy......

    Poor referees don't help the situation but I realise I am in a very small minority thinking that. It's like the Everton incident on Monday which was viewed as something it wasn't!

    No matter the circumstances, if you do not manage a single strike on target during the game, you do not deserve to take anything from it, the gutting thing is that this is not last years Liverpool, they look very beatable - we are just not good enough and as we know…..it is going to be a long season.

    Without trying to excuse Paqueta, I can't help but think that the referee initiated/provoked the whole incident by giving him, very harshly imo, the first yellow.
    I think Paqueta's gesture was out of exasperation at the referee getting a few decisions wrong today, especially Magassa's yellow.

    That might be true but I can also imagine Paqueta dissenting the whole game, so it might just have been the final straw

    The biggest conundrum regarding Paqueta’s is that we know he has the ability to produce the goods that can turn the game…..the problem is both for and against us

    It's clear that it's totally on Paqueta for turning a yellow into a red but the first yellow was not needed. He showed frustration but was not even facing the ref so it could have been general frustration that happens all the time. Our ref's are poor primarily because they pick and choose when they apply the rules. This ref will let countless similar acts go unpunished this season in my view.

    Just as a few games ago when the ref decided the defender got a stud to the ball before going into Bowen, no foul, no penalty. The ball goes up the other end Potts gets the ball cleanly then goes into the man and it's somehow a foul. They can apply the same rules or not within minutes in this league.

    To be fair, he dissented all game. Was lucky to get to the point he did on no yellow.

    At least we didn't lose anything to the main four around us, although Fulham, who we hope will get dragged in did gain three points.

    In December Fulham play Burnley, Forest and ourselves so we should know by the end of December just who is in the fight and who isn't.

    I’m not overly bothered by the result - forget their form, look at their 11 compared to ours (how much did Wirtz & Isak cost?). We are such an average side even a bang out of form Liverpool strolls past us in 2nd gear.

    The West Ham of 3/4 years ago would probably have turned them over under Moyes - not this modern version that has been stripped of any personality or bite by Lop & Potter. It is an empty club at the moment just sleep-walking. I am sure Nuno will scrape the points needed this season for us to finish 17th but it’s going to be a dreary & emotionless journey for the best part.

    Fortuneseeker - Who knows but I am sure there are better / more consistent players out there. His behaviour was quite unacceptable and I do wonder if he is going to force us to sell. I hope he apologises to his team mates and manager

    Bowen really was poor in controlling him. He looked so helpless during the whole exchange.

    Loads of Hammers fans posting on X saying Bowen should be stripped of captaincy as he’s not captain material. It’s one thing saying it on a fans forum but not on social media.
    With lots of rumours that he can be tempted away by one of the big clubs as he wants to be in the World Cup squad and his own wife saying she’s worried he’s going to leave West Ham, things like this could make him think what’s the point of staying.
    He’s been off the boil for a few games later but seemed more up for it when he started for England recently.

    It's a fair comment as I think a stronger Captain would have made sure he avoided the second yellow even if it meant dragging him away, Bowen is very committed but he doesn't hold himself in the way a Captain should. This said however, Paqueta is the one responsible and he should be able to control himself and not need his Captain or the other sides goalkeeper to talk sense into him.

    I do feel Bowen should be thinking of his next move as like Rice he is not going to reach his potential at West Ham at present and has given us a fair crack at improving ourselves to his standard and we haven't managed to. I hope he doesn't use England as a reason as he is already a regular member of the squad and unless he somehow improves past Sakho, which I can't see happening, he wont be any closer to starting than he is now.

    Although it does make sense I still feel it's mostly uninformed people on twitter at this point.

    In reading that, it reminded me that the FA was strongly criticised by the regulatory authority that ruled on the case.

    So up to a point, I can sympathise with his frustration and feelings of victimisation, because the FA were judged, basically, unfair and inept in the whole damn saga.

    I think it might still be 5 because the +2 from today was translated into a red... And he got a separate punishment for that.
