  • Duckett gone for 54, caught at slip. 82-2.
  • It's not an easy staying in wicket.

Pope gone for 27, 106-3. He wastes a review when he was plumb, very poor decision.
  • I think reviews are the last of our worries.
  • Those half a dozen dropped catches and some pretty poor bowling at the end yesterday have probably cost us this test.
We cannot buy a full test series win.
  • Another factor is they realistically bat to 9 whereas we bat to 7.
  • A let off for Brook, caught on the boundary, but Siraj stepped on the foam after taking the catch (when there was a fielder he could have relayed it to) and so a 6 instead.

Not to mention some top bowling from the Indians then?
  • 164-3 at lunch, a fairly even session.
  • 100 for Brook, 285-3, 89 needed.
  • Brook out for 111, 301-4, 73 needed.

After a tense finish to the F1, now there's going to be a tense finish to the cricket.

Apart from obviously wanting England to win, were it to happen maybe it would shut up Ravi Shastri from constantly crowing about how wonderful the Indian players are; I do find he, like too many commentators from the sub-continent, is extremely biased (Dinesh Karthik being one of the better ones in that respect imo).

Bethell gets a huge slice of luck as he toe-ends one back down the wicket with it just looping back over the bowler who couldn't quite turn and get to it.
  • India burn a very optimistic review for lbw against Root, but it stuck him well outside the line of off stump.
  • 317-4 at tea, with Root on 98 not out. 57 runs still needed.
  • Without wishing to take anything away from Brook, I can't help thinking he threw his wicket away. He and Root could have been there to the end, but he seems to get a rush of blood to his head now and again.
  • Mind you, he actually threw his bat away. =)

A slight delay to the post tea session because of a little bit of rain, but due to restart at 4.30.
  • Ton up for Root. England 325-4, 49 more needed.
  • Bethell goes for just 5, 332-5, still 42 needed. Too stressful.
  • India burn another review trying to get an lbw decision against Root. 337-5, 37 needed.
  • Root goes for 105, 337-6, still 37 needed.

I'm surprised WinViz still has England at 83% to win, I think it's closer to 50-50.
  • Bad light and/or rain stops play at 339-6, with 35 still needed.

I suspect WinViz doesn't have a setting for we're trying to beat India with 10 men?
  • And that's stumps, they have to come back tomorrow.

They did say at one point in the Test that WinViz factored it in somehow.

That's some fancy statistical modelling, is that!
  • Smith gone, 27 still needed.
  • Shocking batting from Smith.
