Today I got a letter from the DWP informing me that the earliest date I can get my State Pension is 8 January 2028 when I am 66 years and 11 months old.
Just 9 years, 9 months and 1 day until I am officially an Old Age Pensioner....
One quote made me smile: Mark Hughes asked Pep what he felt the main difference between the Premier League and the Bundesliga was, and he smiled. "Not one team in England ever lays down and dies. No matter the score, they keep on trying right to the end," he said.
He probably hadn't gotten round to seeing West Ham then. ;biggrin
I've just been keeping myself updated on the situation of the so-called "Windrush migrants". I don't know about anybody else on here but I think it's an absolute shameful disgrace the way they have been treated and are still being treated regarding citizenship. Why the holdup? Issue them passports, citizenship documents, whatever ... NOW.
Young people lawfully here, from childhood. But then being about to embark on a university degree find out that they are classed at international students, can't apply for a student loan and have to pay the higher level of fees.

But why on earth wasn’t this done in the first place?
I don’t agree they didn’t need them, I think as we needed them to come here in the first place it is surely common sense that they were made British Citizens in the first place, regardless of “May’s sop”. The error was made in the first instance.
I just meant that as with anybody, you don't apply for a passport until you are planning a trip and need one. So if they have never holidayed or travelled abroad, they had no need to do the paperwork.
The issue is that they are now being asked for evidence they never bothered collecting because they never knew they would need to prove they are entitled to something that they are entitled to.
But I understand they had 'Landing Cards' which were held by the Home Office(?) that proved their entitlement to stay here. It now appears these were destroyed in 2010 and the politicians are now arguing over who ordered this, just so they can lay blame somewhere.
The landing cards are only part of the story (I think). They establish time of entry but (again, correct me if I am wrong) the people also have to not have forfeited their residency status by living outside the UK.... Isn't that why they are having to get proof of continuous residency for the Home Office?

I see Spurs are increasing most season tickets between 25% and 50% for next season

So's this.
