March internationals (just praying no one gets injured)

There are some big matches on Thursday evening when Wales are home to Bosnia (BBC2), Northern Ireland are away to Italy (BBC 1 NI, BBC 3, BBC iplayer) and Ireland are away to the Czech Rep (Amazon Prime)

If any of them win they'll play another qualifier Tuesday

England have friendlies against Uruguay on Friday and Japan on Tuesday. Eze has withdrawn after missing the Carabao Cup final with a calf injury and has been replaced by Harvey Barnes who turned down playing for Scotland in February

Hemansen has been on the Denmark bench since March 2023 but with Kasper Schmeichel and Filip Jørgensen both injured its a toss up between Mads and Union Berlin's Frederik Ronnow as to who starts between the sticks

Denmark are home to North Macedonia on Thursday, if they win they'll play the winner of Ireland v Czech Rep so Hermansen could be facing Tommy Soucek and our old mate Vlad Coufal. He's only missed one game for Hoffenheim this season, they're currently 5th and looking good for Europe

Which is nice...

Wan-Bissaka travels to Guadalajara in Mexico with DR Congo to play either Jamaica or New Caledonia on Tuesday night which will actually be 2am Wednesday London time. Not ideal preparation for our quarter final against Leeds on Sunday

Fernandes has been given his first call up for Portugal with friendlies against Mexico in Mexico City on Sunday and USA in Atlanta on Tuesday at 7pm local time, midnight our time

Diouf has been selected for Senegal's friendlies against Peru in Paris on Saturday and Gambia in Dakar on Tuesday

Mavropanos will face Paraguay in Piraeus on Friday and Hungary in Budapest on Tuesday

Areola has been left out of the French squad again

  • Wales, Ireland and N Ireland all went out

    Bosnia v Italy
    Sweden v Poland
    Kosovo v Turkey
    Czechia v Denmark

Hermansen got his first cap last night although he didn't have a busy night, North Macedonia only managed three shots with just one on target

Tommy Soucek started on the bench but came on at half time when Ireland were 2-1 up and scored in the penalty shoot out

    DR Congo v Jamaica
    Iraq v Bolivia
  • BTW the Czechs don't call it Czechia, they call it Czesko
  • I did that genealogy thing recently and found that my DNA is 34 % Welsh. It’ll take me a long time to get over last night’s result.😉
  • But 66% of you is okay with it

I woulda thought it will take longer to get over the DNA result 😂🤣😂.
  • Bowen comes on after only 37 minutes due to an injury to Madueke.
  • The more I watch of Bowen for England, the more I think he will be lucky to get on the plane to the world cup. Just never looks good enough in an England shirt, plays way to passive and too many backward passes, very rarely takes a chance to run at the fullbacks with the ball. You aren't ever going to nail down a spot playing like that for a nation that demands winning a trophy.

I’m not sure. Tuchel isn’t after individual brilliance, he’s after players who can deliver his instructions. The fact he’s been in every Tuchel squad means he’s doing something right.

I will be highly surprised if he plays more than 10 minutes at the world cup, I think it will be Saka / Madueke mostly (injury free)
  • Not watching..but just noticed updates in scrolling by. Sounds dull.

Love Bowen and always want WH players to do well wherever and whenever. But really can't summon up the will to watch.
  • This ref is really, really bad. Ugarte booked twice but no red card..?
  • That's not possible?
  • If a friendly, are the normal rules of football not applicable?
  • Yes, he’s made a bit of an error with it.
  • Uruguay very fortunate to not finish the game with nine men?
  • Watched it. Boring
  • I didn't watch the match but just saw this tackle on Foden and the complaints about it only being a friendly. My question is who in the England Camp thought it a good idea to have a 'friendly' with Uruguay? They have always been a very physical/dirty side as it's in their footballing culture as much as it's in Brazils to be flamboyant. No one needs play them when it's not a competition and not when players are looking at end of season big matches.

  • Turgid Tuchel
  • Sweden are going to the world cup .And Potter looks like he will take them there ,Funny old game =)
  • Apparently he is trying to bend the rules as they all do - He has JWP claiming he is Swedish because his Mum and Dad saw Abba once in the 80's.
  • So Italy fail to qualify for the World Cup for the third time in row - that is despite the number of teams being expanded to 48 teams from 32.

Do we need to expand the next one to 64 teams to try and accommodate them?

    😀

Hermansen got his 2nd cap but lost, Coufal provided the assist from a corner for Czechia's 1st goal and Soucek scored in the penalty shootout

Congo beat Jamaica, Burnley's CB Axel Tuanzebe scored from a corner in extra time

Wan Bissaka played the whole 120 mins and Arthur Masuaku got his 43td cap

Arthur is currently on loan at Lens and has just completed a 3 match red card suspension. He got sent off while warming up during the 2nd half of the Coupe de France quarter final against Lyon for saying something to the assistant referee

    What did he say???
