Slightly agree with Lukerz there as Scarles did just hang out a leg and not make a great attempt at blocking the cross but it wasn’t the sort of cross we’ve been conceding from as 99 times out of a 100 it would have been ballooned over but Sesco delicately flicked it in. 10 points out of our last 5 games so if we can maintain anywhere near that form we should get enough from the last 12.
Yeah - I just look at it as that was basically the last attack - so let’s not close down a great crosser on his left foot & let’s leave a striker unmarked in the box to get on the end of it, regardless of the finish

And I’ll add, this is not the first time, Chelsea both first & second goals, today, Spurs away, QPR home - we constantly allow crosses into our box & don’t defend them
We are competitive in games, not much else can ask for. Whether its half a season too late or fundamental management failures or recruitment errors. The scales probably heavily tip us to go down, but at least its going down fighting.
Let's hope Wolves can have get a result at Forest tomorrow. If they were to then it would be another round of games we close the gap through. This isn't done yet as we have 12 matches left and we are in our best form of the season by far, whilst Spurs and Forest are dipping.
It’s a hugely gutting result, I think that’s the night we go down
Amongst our last 12 remaining games we have Bournemouth, Fulham, Wolves, Palace, Everton, Brentford, Newcastle and Leeds. If we go down, drawing with ManU is not the game where we went down.
I just find it disheartening that we haven’t really made up any significant ground between us & survival - in a month where we have hit our best form, taken 10 points from 12 & probably are hitting our peak.
This obviously assumes Forest win tonight, but we’re back to 5 (basically 6) points from safety & when we lost to them the gap was 7 (basically 8).
Only 12 games left, yet only 2 points gained in our last 5 despite our best form & Forest being ‘average’ in their results. I feel these 2 points dropped will be significant in a few weeks. The Chelsea game was gutting but once it went to 1-2 you always fancied them - but we were 60 seconds from a huge victory.
We probably still will go down because we’ve given ourselves too much to do, but last night was a good performance and good result.
Even if we did stay up, it’s not going to be just a continuous racking up of points and overtaking Forest or any others and that’s it. We might get closer then lose ground again, we might overtake them and then they overtake us again.
This match day was always likely to see us lose ground. We played the league’s form team and they’re playing currently the worst ever PL team at home.
There's still a lot of games to play, nearly a 1/3 of the season...There IMO are gonna be a few twists and turns along the way, whether we stay up, who knows, but at least we seem to be heading in the right direction, if only matches were 85 minutes......!!
I don't know why I've decided to do this, but, if games stopped at 85 minutes, we would have had 7 more points
+2 vs Manchester United +1 vs Chelsea +1 vs Nottingham Forest +1 vs Fulham +2 vs Brighton
This was a thing last year too. We lost to Liverpool with Van Dijk scoring in the 89th minute, we drew with Southampton in the next game to a 93rd minute equaliser, then lost to Brighton with two goals after the 88th minute.

Then again I guess we wouldn't have beaten Spurs!!
WHU led and could have beaten Villa, Chelsea and MANU, all top teams, but have only 1 point from those games. On a brighter note WHU have picked up 10 points out of the 15, or 5 games. There are still 12 games or 36 points to fight for. If we can get 6 wins or 18 points, we should be OK.
If we are to survive I think we're likely to need 40+ points; the teams above us seem to pick up points just when they need them. Bournemouth were on a poor run, and are now unbeaten in 6 (4 wins, 2 draws). Palace were doing badly, and won at the weekend. We're closest to Forest, but they're likely to pick up points against Wolves this evening.
We're on a good run of form, yet we keep on dropping points by conceding late on in games. I fear we're going to run a few teams close at the end of the season, but could end up coming up just a point or two shy of safety. Even with our current form, I think staying up is still a very big ask.
It's a tough season and we were a longtime in recovery from the Lopetgui debarcle that put us here. Whilst first remedy of Potter failed to have the effect, we have found the correct remedy now but the question is whether it will be too late.
There are enough games and we are playing well, we just need other teams to make errors and leave the door open. I am hopeful if we keep our form they will slip up at some point.
Interestingly, we were on 24 points after 26 games in 2022-23, and 24 points after 27 games in 2019-20. In each of those seasons we ended up on 40 and 39 points.
@alderz, Just looked at the results in 2022/23 over the last 12 games. We won 5 lost six and drew the other one. Two of our wins were v Southampton & Leeds who went down and we lost to Leicester who were the third team to be relegated. In amongst the 12 were loses to Manchester City & Liverpool & what we wouldn't give to avoid defeat to Arsenal like we did that season.
I much prefer Hermansen in goal - the way he gets the ball, rolls his foot over it to encourage the attacker & then just knocks it wide is great, so much calmer than Areola

But would have only drawn against Spurs, so 2 points gained.

We know what we need to improve
We need to stay up, however we do it, & tonight would’ve been huge in pushing us towards that had we seen it out

I think 14 points would be enough, so 4 wins and 2 draws out of 12.
