I really don't want that stupid man to cut his hair because they beat us

  • I’d be very tempted to bolster the midfield for this

    Hermansen
    Wan-Bissaka - Mavropanos - Disasi - Diouf
    Souček - Potts - Fernandes
    Bowen - Summerville
    Castellanos

Areola, Kilman, Walker-Peters, Scarles, Kanté, Magassa, Traoré, Pablo, Wilson

I forgot about this. We are such a generous club for this sort of thing

I would also be tempted to do that, but so much of what’s been good recently has been our front footedness. I think it’s best to stick to what we’ve been doing
  • What an incentive to go level on points with Forest by end of Tuesday night - didn't seem possible when we lost to them.
  • Two weeks ago we had Chelsea with the new manager bounce, now we've got Man Utd with an even better new manager bounce.

Carrick has only made one change to his starting line up since he took over, replacing the injured Dorgu with Cunha. They’re out of the Cup so very little reason to think he’s going to shuffle the pack.

    Lammens
    Dalot Maguire Martinez Shaw
    Casemiro Mainoo
    Amad Fernandes Cunha
    Mbuemo

He doesn’t do a lot of substitutions either, averaging four per match, mostly after 75 minutes with three players, Sesko, Mazraoui and Ugarte, used three times, Cunha twice before he was added to the starting line up and five other players making single appearances.

Mason Mount could be back for this one after missing two games with “a bit of a knock” although it’s probably too early for de Ligt who has been out for two months with a back problem

There were no new signings in January. Bruno Fernandes continues to be the key player with a Premier League topping 12 assists while Mbuemo has scored three in the last four taking him to a total of 10 in all competitions.

    A draw would be nice...
  • "He doesn’t do a lot of substitutions either, averaging four per match"

Well he can only do five a match so I would call that a lot of substitutions. 🤷‍♂️
  • Sorry wrote that in a hurry while I was on a meal break 3am Sunday

What I was trying to say was that Carrick doesn’t make changes until late and when he does they’re fairly predictable. I think Ugarte has replaced Casemiro every time he’s come on, Mazraoui replaced Dalot or Shaw, Zirkzee on for Mbuemo, Cunha or Amad

Saturday was the first time he used all five subs, understandable with a game tomorrow

If he changes things early then maybe something’s wrong - or maybe we’re actually doing something right
  • Sesko not Zirkzee

Don’t blame me, as of yesterday I am officially old

    Happy 21st
  • Welcome to the club ASLEF ...Happy Birthday
  • Looks like one or two players may be out according to Nuno ,No idea who ,Bowen looked like he got a knock .To bad if thats the case

Yeah, sounds like at least 2 will be out, as he says players rather than player.
  • Yes it’s a bit worrying as he actually says some players, not a player or a couple but some.
  • Hope they weren’t all for injury but weren’t the players subbed on Saturday Bowen, Summerville, Taty, Wilson and Diouf.
Hopefully when he says some players he’s including Fab and Tobido.
  • Carrick says Mount probably won’t be fit but no mention of any new injuries

I reckon he just wants to play 'Rampage' Traore as he has threatened him and so is pretending Bowen needs treatment.

I’ve seen all the players who started Saturday in the training clips/pics on Insta.

In fact the only players I can’t pin down are Areola, KWP, Traore or Pablo, so maybe it’s those four who are the potentials?

    Unless he’s having us on.

I remember seeing Bowen and Pablo limping. Hoping for a win.
  • I got a knock jumping up after Summerville scored .But should be okay for tomorrow =)
  • Someone has to beat Carrick United. It might as well be West Ham United. 4-3 either way.
Any word on Areola? Playing young Hermanson is a gamble. Stick or twist?
  • Areola is a good shot stopper but lacks that dominance in the box that is required when facing crosses, I think that Hermanson will come good but his early games with us knocked him back a bit.

Against Utd I would play Hermansen, he will get plenty of action and if he plays a blinder…it will build his confidence for the foreseeable future and he would become an established fixture.

The biggest word there is IF.

For me, Hermansen catches the ball when he can, and Areola doesn't tend to. I like Areola as a shot stopper, but he creates a sense of panic that I can do without

Burnley had 18 shots but only 5 on target.

Burnley are bottom for shots per game and shots on target. We are 19th for shots allowed, only Burnley are worse

Man Utd are top for Shots per game and shots on target

Hermansen might be a bit busier tonight…

Hermansen, Wan-Bissaka, Disasi, Mavropanos, Diouf, Potts, Fernandes, Souček, Bowen ©, Summerville, Taty
Subs: Areola (GK), Walker-Peters, Scarles, Mayers, Kilman, Magassa, Kanté, Adama, Wilson

Only one change to the starting XI, as Wilson drops to the bench to allow Potts to start. Pablo is not in the squad, so was probably one of the injuries mentioned by Nuno in his presser.

No Pablo, Mayers instead but otherwise as Lukerz predicted

    Man Utd same as Saturday
