    Exactly. Same players with same skills but the system is determined by the manager.

    And the manager's job imo is to use whatever system will enable the players to do well.

    Not to impose or stick to some theoretical idea of the best way to play.

    Football is so much better to watch & more exciting when you go through the lines quickly. None of the pointless recycling of the ball between the back six & going across the pitch & back 3 times, then into midfield for the same to happen.

    Much more direct, much more dangerous & actually played fairly well when we had the ball at our feet.

    Agreed. Leave the possession based football to the likes of City who have the players who feel comfortable with it. It's clear that West Ham don't have those.

    Thought we were pretty decent last night, not much between the sides in the first half (yeah I know,the goal) but I thought we were the better side in the second and that left flank partnership looks exciting.

    Whilst I agree with that sentiment, I also think we've been one of the worst clubs at knowing when we have a sellable asset and cashing them in. If Diouf ends up being someone we can sell for £60m and we can bring in two players that improve the overall quality of the squad, then that's smart business. (That said, I don't trust anyone at the club to spend money wisely so maybe not)

    I personally like the idea of finding special players and keeping them for a bit. It would be great to see us creating a team around four or five quality players. I think we have x4 in Bowen, Paqueta, Diouf and Summerville.

    We'd all love that but there are a lot of bigger fish than us, so if a player does outgrow our level (like Rice), the best we can do is get a great price for them.

    As Alderz said, that's a model that could allow us to thrive, but needs to be done well - both finding players with a high ceiling and then selling well, neither of which we've been great at.

    There are bigger fish, but there has to be a way that smaller fish can become bigger fish. Perhaps if we keep some of our bigger fish then we will no longer be one of the smaller fish. If you know what I mean😂

    I’d love to do that, but I’d also love for us to be better in the long term too, and without being about to sell I don’t see how we can do that, tbh.

    I understand the sentiment and general discussion but for me, I want to see us get ourselves out of the pickle we currently find ourselves in.

    Be happy to reengage in the conversation when we have reestablished ourselves as a solid mid table contender who isn’t looking over our shoulder
