Watching the first game back, it was clear that Potter has been working on a lot of things since he’s been here (& the team). The recycling of the ball, drawing pressure from opposition players, then sending the ball between the lines to create space & one on one moments was really good (it was how we scored our excellent goal). Just a bit more execution & physical improvement & there is lots to be excited about, especially if we make a couple of crucial signings in midfield.
  • So ASLEF, with that review of Everton, you know that you've just guaranteed a WHU loss. =)
  • Foderingham, Walker-Peters, Casey, Mavropanos, Kilman, Diouf, Potts, Ward-Prowse ©, Irving, Paquetá, Marshall
Subs: Areola (GK), Wan-Bissaka, Scarles, Aguerd, Todibo, Golambeckis, Orford, Rodríguez, Kanté, Fearon, Souček, Luis Guilherme, Cornet, Bowen, Füllkrug
  • Had fun this afternoon on the Sailgate party - essentially a fan event on the Chicago River with pizza, drinks and few luminaries to chat to - lot of fun and many thanks to all involved in arranging it - it rained a bit but not enough to spoil the party, I think the weather gods are smiling nicely on us for the game itself so the games afoot.

  • Glad you had a fun afternoon.
  • Loss
  • Could be a tough watch for me, got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes today, put on medication and was strongly advised not to drink alcohol in the short term while they see if this medication will work, so I'm going to have to watch us play completely sober 😱😱😱.
  • Ouch - sorry to hear that
  • Foderingham got away with one there, his pass straight to an Everton player but enough pace on it that it kinda bounced off him.
  • Ouch - sorry to hear that

    Yeah I know, sober!!!😂🤣😂

Casey seems to have filled out a bit, in a good way; he looks more solid that I remember him being.

Very unnecessary foul on Diouf leaves him in a heap by the corner flag, but fortunately he seems ok.
  • Everton score.
  • Casey carelessly gave the ball away on the halfway line which let Everton break, but shocking "attempt" to save the shot by Foderingham.
  • Erm.. I think we need another Goalkeeper.

    Blimey.

Good luck, in all sorts of ways.
  • I know these games are only friendlies, but we've been completely undermined by the keepers in the two games so far.
  • Do our goalies have lead in their boots. They don't move.
  • Casey having a bit of a mare so far.

    Thanks.

  • KWP repeated Casey's error with a very poor giveaway of the ball in their half leading to another Everton break.

Similar to the first half against Man Utd, we're giving the ball away far too often

And Paqueta scores as their keeper makes a howler.
  • 5 mins added.
  • How does Potts end up marking Beto when we've got 3 big CBs in there?
  • 1-1 HT, not a lot of quality on show tbh.
  • Potts looks very comfortable sat in midfield. Paqueta looks busy and the best player on the pitch. Marshall is working hard.
I expect AWB, Bowen, Aguerd and Fullkrug to be on soon.

  • Potts is one of the few positives of the 3 halves of football we've seen so far.
  • Lots of changes at half time, although not quite what the commentator said (which was all outfield players except Paqueta). I think it's

    Foderingham
    Todibo- Mavropanos-Aguerd
    AWB-Paqueta-Rodriguez-Irving-Guilherme
    Fullkrug-Bowen

at least in personnel if not formation.
  • Soucek on for Irving.
  • Fullkrug scores, get in.
