US summer series

As you may be aware the mighty Hammers are coming back to the US for a summer series of games with Everton, Man Utd and Bournemouth in New Jersey, Atlanta and my adopted home town of Chicago.

We have tickets for the Everton game at Soldier field Chicago on July 30th.

I think it is going to be a fun day, the local supporters club, Chicago Hammers, have arranged a couple of officially sponsored fan events, one of which includes a boat ride on the Chicago River including pizza, a drinks package, a DJ, a Q&A with Anton Ferdinand ending up with a coach ride to the stadium for the game, you just know that everyone with be suitably lubricated, decked out and will be singing bubbles etc.

Details are on the OS if anyone is interested

I have a couple of mates flying over for it and I for one, am really looking forward to it

  • These two mates .please tell me there a couple of new signings =)
  • I’ll make sure they bring some boots 😀
  • We're training in Donaueschingen, Germany ahead of Saturday's friendly against Grasshopper Club Zurich who avoided relegation from the Swiss Super League by winning the playoff against 2nd tier Aarau (and no, I don't know how you pronounce that either)

The match is at their training ground rather than their home ground (Letzigrund) which they share with Super League rivals FC Zurich. Despite sharing a ground they don't get on, 2011 derby was abandoned when FC fans rioted after Grasshopper fans nicked their banners

Donaueschingen is about 65 miles east of Freiburg

Yeah, they've cancelled my first train so I'm sat at work bored until 2:45pm
  • Grasshopper 2pm this afternoon, live on YouTube

Grasshopper appointed a new manager last month, their 21st since Roy Hodgson left in June 2000 (not including interim and caretaker managers)

I'm spare today, don't get on a train until 11am. Bored
  • Shame you start driving at 11am, that's when the Lions v Australia starts in the egg chasing.

You thought? I thoroughly enjoyed it.
  • Rodriguez in the book, finding the pace of even a pre-season friendly too much.
  • Read somewhere that George earthy has ligerment injure .Anyone else heard that .Not in either 11 today so guess it could be true
  • Looked like maybe a 3 at back

    Todibo - Kilman - Scarles

With AWB & Cornet as wing-backs.

    Second half is apparently

    Casey - Mavropanos - Aguerd

With Guilherme & Diouf as wing-backs
  • Marshall doubles the lead early in the second half with a decent finish.
  • Very confident goal
  • Diouf already looking a threat

Obviously against weak opposition, but yeah, has really looked an attacking threat in the first 15 minutes; hasn't really been tested defensively yet.
  • Grasshoppers get one back.
  • 3-1 Paqueta from the spot.

It generally is.All that build up and it’s the same old thing, stop, start, stop,start- penalty.
I think unless you really know the game, as entertainment it’s way down the totem pole.
